hiya Mr_mrs_joy
A quick read of the site rules & you will see discussing drugs on this site is a big NO NO!
...but then
as this is not a recreational drug I could be wrong!

Still a drug dunno
Doubt there would be any non-listed side effects anyway, isn't that what drug trials ascertain?
From what I understand a licensed medicine is a prescription drug that is regulated by legislation to require a prescription before it can be obtained...
Drug or Medicine dunno
(Let Harry Hill decide which is best by making them fight!) :giggle:
am sure the mods will decide but i have seen other drugs i.e antidepressants named in the forums
redface Very sorry to be taking the proverbial Mr_mrs_joy surprisedops:
But well done for the decision you have taken to kick the weed
Keep at it & always count to ten when you feel the urge to smoke OK
Very soon you will realise the fag is just a crutch that has far outstayed its welcome
Good Luck
& please let us know how you get on!
phaps i should edit the title to ...That stop smokin aid.
As for the AUP, I think we are ok with this thread, but Im sure one of the other mods will slap me if they disagree lol The AUP states that you cannot discuss "drugs (including the misuse of prescribed medicines or the mention of Viagra and Poppers)" so as we are not discussing missuse, we should be ok.
I started Champix last July and stopped smoking within 10 days of starting it. I did feel very sickly after taking it (especially the morning tablet) and could not drive for an hour or so due to feeling drowsey. I did find eating a banana something similar settled my tummy.
After a week or so off the cigs, I did feel ok but really missed the social side/habit of putting something in my mouth (no comments please). On a couple of occassions, I did have the odd puff, but have to say it tasted flippin horrible.
I stopped taking the champix after the standard 12 weeks however, 3 weeks later, I made a conscious decision to go out and buy some cigs and I am now back on them. For me, the hardest part of stopping smoking was when I stopped the champix and not when I stopped the cigs.
However, I did go back to the doctors last week and I have a prescription for the champix again (other reasons are stopping me from taking it at the moment, nothing to do with the side effects/symptoms), and be aware, that these side effects ARE NOT listed in the paper you get with the 'contradictions' but have come to light since the drug was approved.
However, I would suggest you speak carefully to your doctor as I understand there has been a number of trials which showed that people taking it, displayed suicidal symptoms. I did feel a bit low, but I think mine was more down to missing the social side of smoking than the champix redface
Good luck with it!

Actually, 12 weeks of PMT is probably a better description, but I still say mine was down to missing smoking rather than the tablets wink
never heard of the drug, but would just like to mention some side effects may actually be from withdrawal from nicotine and not the drug mentioned.
when i quit i was actually sent home from work after 3 hours had passed attempting to type a letter that still made no sense.
my memory was shot to feck
i had really vivid dreams
regadring the bad temper, well some friends said the only difference there was i was shouting without a fag in my hand lol
good luck with being a non smoker. when people offer you dont say im trying to give up , say no thanks i dont smoke, far to many sabotures out there.
xxx fem xxx
I know it aint gonna be easy I have smoked for 30 yrs only had a few months where i have stopped but I hate it ....I hate smelling of tobacco, not having control of my life .....waiting for the next fag...spending money that i could use elsewhere its so annoying but also so addictive
Oh, I forgot to mention the bad dreams, and I dont mean odd dreams, I mean nightmares, waking in the middle of the night, terrified and once woke up crying. My sleep pattern was very bad, and it carried on even after the initial withdrawal from the nicotine (it is out of your system relatively quickly and it the champix is also known to cause problems with your sleeping).
Ohhhhh, after remembering all the bad bits, I think I just might forget getting my prescription made out
looks like i got summit to look forward to....i dont normally dream so i will keep u posted
Oooh I was just about to reply saying I hated the stuff... gives me heartburn and wind - I thought you meant champagne! blink

Aaah this must be an aide to help quit smoking?? I don't know about tablets but I successfully quit 5 years ago with a smoking cessation 10 week thing, I received my patches free also. I'm only mentioning as an alternative to drug assitance for quitting, obviously mine worked but I can't speak for everyone x
Are these the tablets that you take for a week whilst smoking, then cut the ciggies and take tablets for the next five or six weeks or something?
Its a minimum 12 week course of tablets, you quit smokin around day 12, they are supposed to block the nicotine receptors in the brain whilst also releasing dopamine so basically the brain thinks your still smoking when your not. Sounds brilliant to me even tho I am very concerned about what happens when the tablets stop and your brain does actually realise it isnt getting its nicoteen fix but I will cross that bridge when I get to it.

Thank you Mr Mrs Joy kiss
Slightly different to the ones offered to me a few years ago...
How are you getting on with them?
I'd miss something to do with my hands... maybe I should masturbate more?? lol
