I thought it might be an idea to redress the ballance regarding posts stating 'cannot access chat' or'unable to register'etc.
We currently have :-
Registered Nicks = 4672
Awaiting Nicks = 45 (Those that have partially completed registration but not yet used the confirmation code to activate nick name)
So before you go posting telling us how impossible it is to register or get in the room, think on - how did the other 4672 users ever manage to do it ??
There are ample instructions on the chatroom pages, and a help room manned by chat room ops to assist as well - short of coming round your house to do it for you, there ain't a lot else we can do!
If your PC is steam driven and wont run Java, use or other such IRC software - all easily found by googling the net.
Try reading sites such as which is a user guide and all you need to know written in everyday speak.
When you come into help, and an Op is trying to assist you - stop watching corrie or east enders or whatever, and pay attention, it's so damn frustrating to not get an answer or wait 5 minutes for a reply when others are also waiting to be helped.
So to re-cap, there are comprehensive instructions to follow, Ops to assist in a help room, and other alternatives to Java - so help us to help you, and follow the instructions, or come into help, 4672 have managed to register so far........................

I'll give it another try later but I spent flippin hours on this !
You type the nickname you want into the nickname box and then click 'connect'. You will then connect to the server and you type the rest of the instructions in the chat window.

and how is it suppose to know where the word register finishes and your password starts, is it supposed to guess? Same with the password and the e-mail address.
Put some spaces in it!
/ns register yourpassword youremailaddress
and don't press the button to the right of the box, press enter and then follow the rest of the instructions in the same way.

4. Once you've chosen a NickName that's free for you to register, type in the following:-

That's got spaces in.

i pesonally cant see the difficulty!..
when i found the chatroom nearly a year ago. i downloaded Mirc. folloed the well labeled instructions and was in quite quickly!.
i do reconmend Mirc though. once you've got past the setting up stage. its a hell of a lot easier and quicker!. plus the PMer dont pop up in fron of your face!.

Like I said I gave up with the chatroom months ago because of the hassle to get in there.
As Jon said 4000+ have managed it but how many 1000's havent so why isnt it just made simple without having to download this and that etc..

To use a chatroom on an IRC server you need to have a version of chat software installed on your PC. The most popular to use are java and mIRC and you can download these from:
Once you have installed one of these you need to register your nickname on the IRC channel by using this command:
/ns register yourpassword youremailaddress
you'll then recieve an e-mail with a code in it to confirm your registration. You then enter this command:
/ns confirm yourcode
Then you join the chatroom and chat to all the nice people in there. We can't make it any simpler than that.

you dont have to register to get in help.
I've had monkeys from blackpool zoo log into help and managed to register them.. I aint seen any of you peeps in the help room asking for assistance
