Well, up until now I hadn`t noticed a "dip" and hadn`t really noticed how boring the cafe was becoming.
But now I know, I suppose I might as well slope off to the chatrooms again.
It seems that the current posters aren`t really "cutting the mustard" as it were, so we might as well not bother .
Thanks for pointing it all out worship
I`m sure we are all grateful for the input. I`ll keep an eye open to see if the interesting people come back and if they do i`ll just watch all their wonderful posts and look back on my own in shame redface

but i'm not going to.
Read into it what you will Flower. Thatsays a hell of alot more about you than it does any misguided interpretation of my posts.

Indeed it does.
A bit of a personal hate for me is people who insist posting an irrelevant reply. It is usually aimed at the previous poster and says something like "Hi how are you haven't seen you for a while" Why don't they just PM them?
Happened twice yesterday and on one occasion was accompanied by a photograph. WTF is it all about?
Do I sound angry? mad :x :x

But I have seen a marked decline in “ funny” posts over the last 3 or 4 month’s . as I come on to have a giggle with you lot it’s kind of stunted my post’s really. I did try 2 or 3 weeks ago to bring some humour back into the forum , it worked for all of 1 night . I put pic’s in the “ film caption comp” every so often but people don’t seem to go for it anymore dunno
Still like being here though . think we just need to get are sense of fun back that’s all
and my " shag me" PM's have been few and fare between too Dark

and you are still as sexy as hell! wink redface

i'll give it a day
I guess I've not been posting so much, but there again I've never been a big poster really, although I do read the forums and am normally around here somewhere, just sitting quietly in the corner daydreaming and watching the world go bt!
I surpose I've not been posting much due to personal circumstances, not helped by the fact that it looks as if yhe company I work for is gearing up for a takeover and that on Monday some idiot from HR called me and started the conversation by saying "this is one of those phone calls I hate having to make"!!!! and then after turning me into a gibbering wreck convinced I didn't have a job anymore told me that I had a speeding ticket!!! mad That one phone call still has me a bit on edge really. ohh this is turning into a bit of a stream room rant now.
Ahh well I'm sure this cycle will come to an end soon and the forums will return to normal service soon and in the mean time I'll try to get posting more. Anyway I'm off work today so off for a spray tan later to cheer myself up......I hope everyone had a good day and kiss to everyone. lol
she's done the " pink fluffy" thing before

I noticed the pink fluffyness at 8am this morning and thought I must be seeing things, but it is still there.

shut up you 3 lol
i'm waiting in anticipation for any overdue 'i've got a problem and am gonna tell it to you straight' pm's ..i thought the pink fluff might encourage them, as suggested in the other thread wink I personally cant stand the snide digs and side-swipes that are rather prevelent at the moment, regardless of who they're aimed at! it's already been mentioned in here as part of the reason a few people arn't posting much, on top of it being a mega busy time for those of us who're studying & end of the financial year at work etc, so I'm very open to 'I cant fookin stand you Dark' pm's at the mo, as long as its kept to pm and people stop doing it on the forum where it affects everyone else.

Room for a pair of size 9s ??
First.
I'm not around as much as I was because I've gone back to tramping and can't get online midweek until Zurich Insurance buy me a new laptop.
Other insurance companies are available.
Now then. The "cyclic ebb and flow"
The site, and to a degree, the lifestyle itself, is certainly "cyclic" It always has been. I'd much prefer to be able to still say ' . . . and it always will be'
At the moment it's (the site) is at the lowest ebb I've seen.
Swinging Heaven as was, has changed beyond all recognition since it changed from the free site to what it is now. As have many of the people that stayed the course following the change over.
The major thing (for me) that brought previous cycles, full circle were the people. But many of them are no longer here, and/or, have changed.
I've often said to people "Ah - it's just going through one of those circles. It'll back up soon"
That statement sounds more and more empty at each repetition.
What can/should be done about it ?
I fear my usual answer of "Sit with it and wait it out. Post what you want to post and add to threads you want to add to." is beginning to sound just as empty as the other.
Yes

To Dammie
Are you saying that us newer folk are less interesting? confused Because that's how it reads to me and if that's what you meant then that is a little one sided saying that members past are mourned for being more interesting than current posters. dunno Not sure if that sits with me well.
To everyone
All forums will go through a cycle and the older members say "It's not like is used to be". It won't be - time changes things, people come and go and if anyone wants to be a part of this community then they have to make an effort and that means adjusting to change.
At the end of the day, it's what WE the members make it. I prefer to see people being positive about a new cycle of the forum then constantly mourning the Forum of old. This is what we make it.

Anyway, I think that new posters get the impression that it is not worth saying anything because somebody will simply trawl up a thread from months ago that happens to be along the same lines.
If a specific question has been asked I can see the point of bringing up past answers but if it is just a general discussion I am sure that most new members want to hear what contemporary posters think.
I disagree, even though the thread may have been ran before and members have posted on it their experieces, by the time the question is asked again, those same members may have had different experiences and have a different opinion
It`s a bit like being in a pub talking with a group of friends and then some old codger coming up, butting in and telling you what everybody else in the pub said on the subject 6 months ago, many of them people who don`t even come into the pub any more rolleyes
Oh so bunch of old codgers are we ya cheeky git lol
The forum needs new blood to keep it going but it does also need the regulars, if there is a question to ask by a newbie on experience, new people to the scene cant answer it so for me there needs to be a mix of both, if there wasnt newbies the forums would become just as stale with the old codgers only posting as it does with just the same few people posting, there has to be a good mix and its a bloody shame there isnt as this is a feckin good site.
It also gives the impression that people who have been posting in the forum for a long time find newcomers boring and their views irrelevant sad
I dont think this is true either, see point above, we have had this before about are we too fluffy type of posts and no one ever talks about sex, there are those that wont post unless its sex, its all horses for courses, i think what we need is to stop digging at each other and try and bring some life back to the site.
After all isnt what we want a lively busy stimulating site we can all enjoy
Personally i am finding it a bit like when i was a newbie as my posts pretty much get ignored

Earthy xx
I'm not ignoring you Earthy - good post!
Those that have commented about the forum being a bit slow at the moment has also mentioned previous cycles.
Now to me that says that although they think it's slow at the moment, this has happened before when other members were here (including themselves).
So for any newer members - don't take it personally. It isn't personal.
Now personally speaking I don't post as much because I feel the forum is changing in a way that doesn't suit me or my personality.
I remember when I first joined the site I would be sat reading the forum and crying with laughter. I don't do that very often nowadays.
I don't mean that as a personal insult to anyone, and I think a lot of it is down to the number of people on the the forum now - you don't get the same level of banter/opinions with 30 people as you do with 300.
Again, that doesn't mean that the 30 people on line are not as good/funny/interesting as members of old - it just means there's less diversity and the threads don't move as quickly
Disclaimer
I've tried to offer an opinion without upsetting or insulting anyone. If I have, then I'm sorry

I was going to venture a guess that the forum may not be as lively as before because of the popularity of the chatrooms. But I wasn`t sure that this was the case.
But now that you have put the whole thing into perspective I wonder whether this is the case... ( I had no idea that the forum had previously had so many people online at one time, nobody mentioned numbers before, or if they did I wasn`t paying attention !! ).
yes it was a lot busier in numbers, like i said you couldnt keep up with it which was what i meant by even if there was just the same number of old codgers around the forums would be the same as only the same number of newbs, if i am explaining myself well enough
HLB, reading the above has no way upset me. This is your personal opinion & hence as important as all the rest of the replys.
For me, Dammie & yourself are a valued couple on this site. my emoticons aren't working at the min butam sending you both a kiss

I don't think anyone has mentioned the numbers before, but it is something myself and dambuster have discussed many times and I'm sure a lot of other members who have been here a while longer notice.
One of the reasons I wanted to bring it up was I felt that other people's comments were being read in a way that wasn't intended and a few people were getting a bit upset.
You're right in the fact that the chatrooms are more popular now, but I also think that as it was mostly forum members who went and set up elsewhere when SH became a paysite, a higher % of the forum moved at one time than any other part of the site.
I think it's normal for a few people to leave and a few new people to join, but having such a large chunk of the forum users leave all at once changed the dynamics somewhat.

its funny you should say that actually, I've noticed the same stop start stop start absence of anything substantial thing too with other 'group' & community type stuff I'm involved in in the vanilla world...

Great stuff, my fav subject
I specialised in community studies (fascinating stuff) at Uni. As part of my studies I once did an assignment on virtual and real communities (my arguement was they would be basically be the same). I found that the majority of stuff etc that happen in the real world, happen online too.. mmmm must dig it out again, re-read it and see if I still agree with it all!
Very interesting subject "virtual communities" …… $ spent in the last 24hours in Second Life (a virtual world). People buy virtual property, virtual cars, and virtual clothes from virtual shops with real sponsors paying money to advertise in a virtual world!!!!!!!!
……… and back to the thread; I opine that the site does what it says on the tin, it puts like minded people together for sex. It’s working for us!
I find this a very interesting / informative thread. Thanks DF kiss
As one of those guilty of being AWOL for some time now I have not been quite as aware of the cyclic demise of the Café.
Reasons for my absence are many and varied. Real life has taken its toll, since the departure of Mrs. Pete back in November I have obviously had to restyle large parts of my life, simple things like keeping house, bringing up the boy, change of schools, dealing with all the emotional stuff, my own and his that accompany the break-up of a family have all served to keep me away from the computer and particularly the forums.
Once I had settled into a new routine and the emotional spaghetti had started to settle down I did return to the forums for a while, but I felt a change there too, at the time there were a lot of “your first meet” , “how did you?”, “when did you?” type threads were doing the rounds and whereas in the past I would have been keen to contribute, I now found them somewhat upsetting as they would bring back some quite poignant memories of the time when Mrs. Pete and I were in the scene / lifestyle so very quickly learned to skim past threads that had the potential for stirring up too many memories.
Also around that time there seemed to be quite a few threads that were inviting members to openly whinge about other peoples posting styles, thread titles and / or content. My general mood at the time just made me go along the ‘oh well, I’ll leave em to it’ road rather than my usual response which would have been to wade in and gob off.
Add to all of the above that real life has been a bit of a nightmare recently and has taken up a huge amount of my time (wont get into it here or the post will get moved to the steam room) suffice to say that just trying to manage day to day survival has been a constant battle, and that last Monday, I finally found myself with a couple of hours to spare, a nice sunny day, I decide to take the dog for a nice long walk and end up breaking my feckin ankle rolleyes to say that life’s a bitch, for me, has been a slight understatement of late.
All that said, things are slowly getting back to normality, erm, well manageability at least and am finding more and more time to get involved again.
So Darkfire my sexy little ray of sunshine  theres my reasons for being AWOL for so long.
Looking forward to hearing some details from a few of the other peeps I used to bounce off of in here (yes I too am a nosey git)
 all
Pete
