I'm here
Like most busy with RL stuff, and end of year accounts are looming :shock:
Dawnie go get your eyes tested, I did, and need glasses for close work! and yes I am wearing them now.
And as some of you know I have struggled with my hearing in my left ear, so at the end of Jan asked my doctor to refer me for a hearing test which he did.
Had relevant tests at Stoke Manderville hospital, the senior audiologies (sp?) agree with my my left ear is deaf and I need a hearing aid, but then the completely knocked me for six by saying my right ear is not good either so I need a hearing aid for that one as well :shock:
So TBH I have not really felt like posting much.
Now darkfire want a shag???? :twisted:

see, I'm a bit sad, I'm here most days even if I'm 'working' and have SH on in the background or I log in for 10 minutes when vanilla things are really busy - I dont chat to many people here (cos I'm anti-social lol

) , but I do 'keep tabs' on where folk are, what's up, and 'are you ok' type stuff redface

I'll openly admit I find the forum a bit of a chore when its like this....but....we all have 'other stuff' to attend to.
What pains me, tbh, is when the 'undercurrent' starts rubbing off on folk so they do stay away, or worse, forget how to enjoy the forum and community and find it all a bit too much like hard work. Boredom is one thing, disenchantment with the whole thing is something completely different wink

...the 'cycle' becomes a problem when lots and lots of people get fed up all at the same time, and that's kinda what's happening at the mo :sad:
But, Thanks to those who've posted so far we can see that alot of people have more pressing things going on than SH at the mo, and I'm thankful for that....not because I wish you stress :lol: but because its shows that its just temporary and you'll be back and that the current 'air of crapness' wont push people away :bounce: :bounce:

Back to the subject matter now......Yes, I've been guilty of being in the "busy/can't make the effort" ilk.

Funny that, coming from the bloke who just over a year ago sat me down over coffee and did the whole 'you get out of this what you put in' pep talk with me poke

I hope that makes sense :lol:
p.s - this is not the pm victim of the week thread either so stop it with the sympathy shag PM's rotflmao

I'm pretty much allways around when not at work during the week and in the evening at weekends.
But im not posting anywhere near what i did. This is due to the general slowness/downbeat state of the forum in general. I to don't even go in some threads if the titles doen't say anything to me.
I'm also the same in the chatrooms. I will go in say my hi's and banter/chat for 10 minuits then just dissapear ito the background.
I have lots to do DIY wise at home and will not be here as much over the summer (well thats the plan anyway lol

)
I find the place has changed a lot since i joined and hope it is as Darkfire says thet its just a cycle and will resume normallity or what i consider to be normallity and see the familliar faces here along with all the new folk who are posting because i just don't like change i was comfortable as it was and felt really settled.

:rose: for you Darks for this thread. I also thought everyone had been hybernating. For me, working full time with 4 hrs travelling there n back every day exhausts me. My uni work is piling up & my assignments are due in next month :shock: Fancy meeting up to do our uni work together Darks wink

I do enjoy coming on here & in the chatrooms but it seems that the threads at the mo have been done over & over again so I don't bother posting. I know its not fair on the newbies as they don't realise this. I do still welcome all newbies as I was one once & know how it feels.
The chatrooms seem to be the same, people in certain rooms have a laugh between themselves so I just sit back & browse & chuckle to myself :lol:
Won't be forever. I do feel that one thread made a huge impact on some of the regulars but I don't want to bring that up again.
The spring is coming(even light at 6 when I set off for work now) so thats cheering me up :lol:
However quiet the forums are though I still love this site & the people who come on it kiss

I'm around, reading the forums when I can - just hardly ever have time to post. I like to hear everyone's news and keep up to date with what people are up to, and very occasionally a good discussion thread gets me interested enough to post.
Work's busy, and I've been spending quite a lot of time doing the 'settling into a new place' bit since I moved.... but TBH my lack of forum time is mostly to do with the fact that I'm living with Chris now, and blissfully happy, and more often than not, we're too busy chatting and giggling and snuggling and pottering around together, to do much posting. We'll never stop doing the socials and munches, and I keep up with reading newsy threads and posting on birthdays / congratulations etc, but I don't feel as keen to get involved in the general discussion and banter as I used to.
Whew, that was a bit honest! Wasn't meant to sound negative. Just... I'm happy, I guess, and busy being happy. If a side-effect of that is a slight drift away from the forums, I'm OK with that exchange. smile

Combination of things fer me. I had a whale of a time on here a couple of weekends ago but then it went quiet (p'raps it was me? redface

Since then I've been preparing for me west African trip (off tomorrow morning! - God I'm dreading this one) and fitting in a lovely meet. S'funny how meeting people on here tends to drag you away from the forum innit?

From the amount of people saying lately the forums not what is used to be and about the turnaround of different people and maybe not feeling as comfortable. I sort of feel a bit bad now redface

Like maybe Im muscling in on someone else's territory.
Then again maybe im making more of it than need be.

there's no 'territory' to muscle in on Louise - we're all part and parcel of the site (and several people will rolleyes

:roll: at me for adding this) and the 'community' wink

and, this really isnt about 'how the forum used to be' (that's certainly not why I posted this anyway) ...its simply that we're currently experiencing a 'dip', and to let people know that it happens...and we'll all find renewed enthusiasm soon I hope.
The worst possible thing (hence the reason for the thread) is that people who are newish (or havent seen it do this cycle thing before) start thinking that SH is crap, its all gone downhill, they're gonna leave, the forum's dying...and various other shite I've heard in the last couple of weeks.
Its a bit like a self-fulfilling prophecy I guess - people start temporarily 'staying away' because of boredom, crap threads, 'undercurrents' and general cant be arsedness...but suddenly its all good and back to normal, posting boots rediscovered & we get buzzing little community we all know and love......stay away too long or get too 'cant be arsed' - especially when lots of other people are doing exactly the same thing - it becomes self-fulfilling. We all do it individually - for many reasons like those posted earlier.... its when we start doing it en mass, like now, is when it gets scary :wink:

I will check in, if only to say what a number of folk have already said, things in the real world have been a bit on the busy side of late and look like they will be for a bit to come, couple that with some back to back episodes of Bonanza and thats my time used.

My excuse....well i have real life worries at my mo
Will I still have a job soon.....at lot of you know who i work for... and what has happened, and i should say thank you for the people who have been sending me support by text.. and listening to my neurotic ramblings kiss

and Another cold means another 3 months with the blooming sniffles... like i need that at this point in time... sad

so basically doctors have told me to take it easy at the mo... and for a change i have decided to listen to them, well it was bound to happen eventually smile

well i come from a family of them so it was normally in one ear and out of the other
and i need to find a topic that grabs my attentions... for example like the global warming thread to really get me thinking..........

I dont post much anyway,however i do read the forums religiously. Yes Dark your'e right, things do seem to be at rather a low ebb just now but i would imagine they will pick up soon.
