Another thread!!
Call it what you like - I think it's a bit of child stupidity, ok maybe not stupidity as such. lol
What I'm talking about is those silly things we all did when we were kids. Then again after talking to Mrs Kiss I'm starting to wonder if it's just me!
Things like spinning around and around to make yourself so dizzy you could hardly walk.
I used to sit crossed legged on my feet to cause pins and needles as I liked the feeling when the blood started to return.
Another one was jumping off a wall holding a carrier bag like a parachute above my head to see if it would slow me down. redface
Please tell me I'm not alone!
Ohhh come on!
You can't tell me you never did anything like wear your swimming goggles and take a drinking straw in the bath to use as "breathing apparatus" so you could breath under water. lol
I know I have Aspergers but never thought of myself as totally weird!
putting your hood over your head and using your coat as a cape?
i did the spinning thing too
Earthy xx
I did the spinning thing and Ummm I still do redface
Putting a playing card in the spocks of your bike so it sounded like your had a motor.
Playing endless games of football in the street which were always decided by the 'next goal wins' rule.
Kids don't change - my daughter does all of those things Kiss mentioned.
Ever put duvets on the stairs and slid down or gone down on a tea tray? My cousins and i used to climb out of first floor windows, jump off anything high enough to be scary, hang around those creepy steps with the ghost story about it ( a man hung himself from the tree over the 13th step - of course!)- just because we could and it's a cheap thrill.
Oh yeah - along with the dizzy spinning and pins n needles thing - didn't you used to wrap elastic bands round your fingers till they went blue? Or hold your breath and then someone would push on your chest to see if you'd pass out?

rotflmao
Yes!!! Except I used to pull the matress off my bed and make that the 'slide' and nick my sisters matress and put that at the bottom of the stairs as a crash cushion.
Something I used to do and I know our kids have done is hide behind the curtains thinking no one can see you.
The curtains would stick out a mile, you can see the feet at the bottom and hear giggling but you'd be well hidden :lol2:
using a clothes horse as a tent
I used to 'collect' car number plates that I saw and write them all in an exercise book, and I kept a record of how many times I ever saw that particular plate. lolredface
I also used to run around our living room in my socks and dragging my feet. Switch the lights off and go over to the metal fire surround and touch it - thus giving myself a massive static shock.

I used to love messing around with electronics kits. I was told that the family video player was knackered and we were getting a new one, and that I could rip the old fecker for bits. I linked up the step down transformer (a component that reduced the 240 volts to a voltage that the machine could use) to a 9 volt rectangular battery (it see how low the voltage would be), but wired it up the wrong way round. Touched the wires, and five minutes later was berated and given a lecture as to why certain words are frowned on in polite company.....
i used to love painting my hands in pva glue at school and then peal it all off as if it was old skin.
used to love it when the men had been to cut the grass in the field/park then we would make pretend houses using the grass in piles to mark out the rooms.
did any one else do the chicken scratches thing?
oh used to play some "game" i use the term loosley where by youd stand opp some one and have darts and throw them to th eground and the person hand to move their feet to that point, youd carry on till you could spread your legs no further.
ok now i know i would faint if i caught my daughter doing these stupid last 2 things lol and there the mild stuff

I have a gallon container in my cupboard at work!
Well, it was full at the beginning of the year anyway innocent
I used to get a single skate and an old book(yearly annual were the best)and sit on the book and skate and rush down the biggest hill using my good school shoes as brakes..
Wish I had patented the idea tho cos someone did and called it a  skateboard

At school we used to do that with penknives and worse.... Somehow I don't think it would go down too well these days.

My brother and I used to use old curtains to make cloaks.
We used to run up and down the garden copying are TV heroes. I was the youngest so he was Batman and I was Robin KEP--POW
Dinner dinner dinner dinner dinnner Batman!!
There was a book written in the 70's called Altered States. Basically it described that adults take drugs and drink and look for thrills in the same way as kids boost themselves into a state of euphoria by doing various daft things.
Since then I havent worried a sausage about what I do.
i used to slide down the stairs on my quilt too! was great funn till i hit the door at the bottom and neded stitches in my forhead! confused
we used to also do the thing where one person lay on the linked and out stretched hands of 4 or 6 others, and the got flung up and down in the air, i also ended up having stitches for that.
need i carry on? suffice to say i am a mass of scars lol
I used to pick rose petals & put them in water to make my own perfume.
Always thought I'd become famous with my own brand of perfume.
Wore it to school once until everyone asked what that horried smell was redface

rotflmao love the typo I have this image of Capt Spock going round and round with a playing card in his mouth shouting "beam me up Scotty FFS"
I think I can say with honesty that I do far more barking mad things now than I did when I was a kid! redface
For me....imaginary horses, where me and my equally horsey mad pal would trot round making clip cloppy noises... redface We used to like the grass clipping rooms as well.
For Harry...typical naughty boy things...washing up bottle rockets, home made cap bombs and other things you wouldn't get away with these days!
I remember going down the local brook and fishing out clay. My best mate and I made pots for our Mums but we were gutted when they wouldn't let us bake them in the oven sad
Funny really because now our kids are in the same brook getting booters and having adventures under the same bridges 30 years later biggrin
I used to make tents with the clothes horse and sheets and pretend I was on a mission (to the hall and back but felt like miles)
As for naughty pranks, I was a good girl, still am  hmmm but I did have a friend who continually put cling film over people's toilets when she visited their houses rotflmao
Make mud pies and spend hours making them smooth, then chucking them at the wall of the house.
Chopping worms in half to see if they'd grow back or fix themselves.
Not stepping on the cracks in the pavements in case my mum made me marry a brick and have beetles come to my wedding.
lol
You've just reminded me... although I'm a little curious about the brick and beetle story and where the heck that came from! lol
In the summer... throwing large stones into cow-pats. redface

I used to do a lot of the things already mentioned, but also used to enjoy building dams with clay & stones in the local stream, mixing all the chemicals out of my mate’s chemistry set and when I was a little older, extracting the gunpowder out of bangers to re-assemble them to make a really big bang. These days you’d have a health-and-safety inspector insisting you wore hard hat, goggles, safety boots and body armour for most of the things we got up to ..

That was a favorite of ours too!
Also, playing chicken on our bikes where you had to cycle round in cirlces and not dare to put a foot down. Always ended in a pile up in the middle of the road :lol2:
oh...and the catching of creepy crawlies in jam jars, thinking that as long as you fed with grass and leaves you'd have your very own pet for ever....untill you realised you never put air holes in the lid that was sad

I once stood in a corner of the playground at achool and spun round till I hit my head on the wall and knocked myself out.
The teacher was not impressed redface surprisedops:
Oh and I put chewing gum on a girl's hair. Got into a lot of trouble for that.

oh a couple of posts reminded me of this:
would go and stay at my nans for holidays and she lifes on the coast, so daily beach visits were a must and they had one of thoses huts. When the tide was out it would leave big mud flats that would catch the water and I would spend hours building dams and digging canals between pools. would come back caked in mud only to be sent back to clean up rotflmao
Oh happy days cool
did you have a good holiday mar?
