Was gonna post this in 'whats made you smile' but thought it warranted a thread all on its own lol
snippity
A new documentary called Orgasmic Birth aims to 'educate' women that far from going through the normal agonies of labour, we should be getting sexual enjoyment out of it.

Some, who are simultaneously being kissed passionately by their partners, groan in such a breathlessly silly way it looks more like a scene from a bad adult movie than the delivery of a baby.

'When the baby's coming down the birth canal, remember, it's going through the exact same positions as something going in - the penis going into the vagina, which often leads to orgasm,' says Dr Christiane Northrup, who seems to display a rather limited appreciation of the female anatomy.
A romantic atmosphere is important, too, says Dr Marsden Wagner, former director of women's and children's health for the World Health Organisation.
'It's got to be how it is when you make love with someone,' he says. 'It's got to be safe, secure and uninterrupted.'
Except that all the soft lighting and aromatherapy candles in the world cannot disguise the fact that it's an 8lb baby coming the opposite way, hoping to see the light of day through a 10cm gap.
As most of the mothers I know will testify, forcing out a complete human being through a very small orifice hurts - a lot.

just made me smile a lot this morning......now although Ive had 3 of my 4 kids via c section, ive experenced labout 3 times....and am afraid if Mr B had leaned in for a passionate kiss while i was in the throes of labour I would have take great satisfaction in biting the lips clean off his face!
......but I will say that if its me thats in the minority then all fair play to the SHers who have experienced orgasm during labour.......anyone?!?!?! dunno
rolleyes
My smallest baby was my first at 9lbs 1oz. My largest was my 4th at 11lbs 2oz. Fortunately the fifth was slightly smaller. I can categorically say I did not orgasm at any point during the proceedings, in fact with at least two of them it felt like my clitoris was being torn in half!
Whilst I can't speak for himself, I don't think he did either!

I am with fluff on this one
I think orgasm was not the first thing on my ex wifes mind
I was present at both births and can confirm she was deff not thinking about pleasure more how much pain she was in
I tip my hat and bow to you women for giving us kids biggrin :D
steve
Orgasm was the last thing I was feeling when I had my youngest son who weighed in at 10lb
I'd suggest the author of this article try shitting out a medicine ball for 10+ hours and see if he/she reaches the height of sexual pleasure. My guess would be no
It's at this point I'd just like to say that I'm NEVER having children (and I'm never coming back in this thread!) :scared:
You're all doing it wrong. To truly experience the joys of orgasmic childbirth, you have to have a 100% natural delivery. No pain relief whatsoever! Only then will your body's own natural chemical relief kick in. :scared: rolleyes
The cynic in me thinks the fact that the people behind this are strong advocates of natural birthing, at least one of them with a book out on the subject, is a bit of a giveaway. It's a marketing gimic a bit like free plastic toys with yer coco-pops. lol One free orgasm with every birth ((( Terms and Conditions may apply. ))) ;)
Neil x x x ;)
maybe she attached the tens probes in a different spot to the manufacturers recommedations!!
my best friend's mother is a doula, and she's actually assisted in many births where women have orgasmed, she likes to creep us out with the stories and tell us how beautiful it is. I think it does make sense, as the baby would be putting pressure on all sorts of areas of the vagina, but the woman who is championing the existance of mid-birth orgasms says she's not saying that orgasm should be the aim, it's just a side-effect, and that definitely not all women will experience it, and if they don't they shouldn't feel that they're doing something wrong.

Well...
After you've had one, there has to be a reason for wanting another one...

silliness? Forgetful memory? insanity? an accident? (some of us only had 1) :giggle:
Who is this idiot? Clearly never given birth. Child-birth is agony - pure and simple - why anyone does it twice is beyond me. I seriously would not have done it the first time if I'd known how bad it would be.
As for pain relief - WHAT pain relief? Some kind of gas that might dull a slight headache but has no effect on anything that actually hurts and Pethidine - which is a sedative NOT an analgesic. It doesn't kill the pain - it just keeps you doped up so you can't complain.

Interesting post, Squiff - (pause while I google "Doula" ...ah!)
I've never been preggers and with my advancing years, I doubt I ever will be - but this is certainly interesting reading!

haha, I didn't know what one was either until I met my friend's mum, she's the chairperson of DoulaUK.
