I can not believe that it is this time of year again.
My house is already covered in Christmas decorations. At least there is nothing covering the outside.
So who else has there decorations up?
We hav'nt had decorations up for the last few years surprised not even a single bauble or a tatty piece of tinsel rolleyes .
Mainly due to we go away for christmas so its just going to waste decorating a empty house.
we put our tree up yesterday...6 bleeding hrs...had to re-arrange the front room to fit it somewhere...then had to go and get some more lights....ceiling decs going up tomorrow...
ours not up yet i have lost the spirit confused

I was going to ask that :giggle:
have some daft ideas these men folk like dont they rolleyes no wonder they call women the better sex lol
Mine should be going up later this week - the Christmas decorations that is :!:
Plim smile
It's not Christmas yet. Our decs go up on the 18th and come down NYE.
I can't stand cheesy flashing santa on the roof, Blackpool Illuminations in the windows etc.
We have a tree, anything the little 'un has made and wants to stick up and a santa stop here sign in the window and/or in the garden.
If I lived alone, I wouldn't bother at all. Bah humbug!
Well i lurve the festive season and dont feel its any less magical to have my tree up already..and come on Atomcom....doesnt it look pretty at our house? Not at all cheesy and quite tasteful smile
I have lived with Atomcom (bah humbug) for 12 years and he's always complained about christmas decs...but i think he secretly likes them really.
ours goes up as late as i can possibly get away with it n comes down b4 lunch time on new yrs day, but for some reason peeps where i live seem to have a 'lets see how many lights we can put up outside our house' competition...one particular house has had theirs up since end of october all lit up every night ( no doubt all run off a pre-payment meter) n some dont even take em down at all...i have to look at santa on his bloody sleigh all yr round lol
We have neighbours opposite who smother their house and front garden with the tackiest crappy flashing decorations I've ever seen.........these have been on every evening since Nov 23rd.....people from all over our village 'drive by' to check them out / laugh mad
They light up the whole street.....
I'm all for decorations BUT up as late as possible and exterior decorations have to have some fecking taste and subtlety!!!!
I agree
Sometimes...less is more :rascal:
Sara
We put the decorations up Solstice day, earlier if we are not home for the day. They come down after New Year.
The only sign of Christmas is on the wrapping paper of gifts from christian friends. Our wrapping paper sicks to the old symbols, evergreen woods, snow scenes and the such.
As for being insulted by Christmas, it seems Christians, not knowing when Christ was born nicked a festival celebrating the rebirth of the sun. Perhaps they are confused, but it does not offend me.
We've always been 12 days before 12 after. I have wrapping paper and cards written out but no tree up yet. I'm like others - quite minimal nowadays, the tree mostly.
However, I did pay a little visit to Next and bought 8 teeny black snow flecked trees to stand on my window sill in the kitchen. They are sooooo cute! wink

me too!... I look at all the outdoor decorations, but I hate them.
Is it just me or is it getting tacky with every one trying to outdo each other??

It's everywhere and I find it tacky and distasteful. I don't even like Blackpool!

But at least you can get rat @rsed there! lol
Ours goes up 2mro as its sons birthday never put them up any early
All along the street is lit-up like Blackpool since
Our tree and a few other lights (marya - ya miserable cow :P) went up yesterday but only coz the missus made me do it. All will be down, first thing on 1st Jan.
For me, i'd wait for a week or two but the missus wants them up for the kids....at least thats what she tells me!
I love christmas to bits, especially having 2 kids, but its all getting a bit too commercialsed for me and its starting to piss me off.

For the first time in a long time I noticed that Santa is no longer a feature of the illuminations on the Council house here.
We have a German market not a Christmas Market and the jobsworth on the steps of the council house told me when asked why no Santa, that :
It might offend certain religious groups.
What like Christians?
Then I realised he actually meant that Santa might offend other religious groups.
Well, I'm a "other religious group" and the jolly faced, red-suited bastard doesn't offend me. dunno
Thankfully I don't celebrate Christmas, but it must really piss some folks off when they discover that the Christmas decorations in the City are now actually referred to as "Winter festival decorations"
I think we're nearing the thick end of the wedge now...

This is outrageous blashemy   smackbottom . How can you take Santa's name in vain, he is a legend and one to be loved. Remember - don't believe at your peril!
i dont put any outside decorations up they wouldnt last 2 minutes before the tea leafs had em away for a start see profile for last years decorations cool i turn my front room into some sort of grotto if i can redface
Thankfully, the French seem to be a bit less commercialised than the jolly ol’ Brits were Christmas is concerned, so not too many people put much up in the way of decorations until just before the event … which suits me just fine ta!
It took us about a couple of hours to put our tree up last year…. and 20 seconds for one of the huskies to discover the chocolate hanging on the tree and pull the effing lot over!!! mad
Still… sitting in front of the log fire, cigar in one hand, large Cognac in the other and a tum full of good food…..ahhhhhhhh…..

Santa does exsist... "yo ho ho!!.. cum and sit on my knee little lady" ask Mrs DD!!
