has it ever crossed either of your minds that not all is how it seems?

It has crossed my mind for a long time.
Hijack over.
I really struggle with the issue of class. Class was I guess originally based on the feudal hierarchies where upper class referred to the landed nobilities and middle class being those who exist between the nobility and the peasants working on the land. Society evolved and class distinctions were defined by the constraints, priveledges or opportunities afforded to each group, attitudes being formed by the plight or pleasures of one's self proclaimed upper class preserving their self anointed status by monopolisation of power by control of the capital and the mercenary forces at their command. Today the so called upper class still has control of the capital and uses it to preserve and maintain their elitism (in their eyes).Education, hard work, and innate intellect have allowed many to aquire their own share of capital and thus aspire to the notional and artificial rise up the class ladder.
I can not reconcile myself to accepting the usual terminology of upper, middle, working 's an outmoded and pointless social division.
One thing I can say though is that whatever strata of society you wish to examine each has it's share of saints and arseholes.
Oh and the pale skinned tattooed guy and gal just may have more real class in their little fingers than some people in this world ...and that's using the word the only sense it should be used.
Besides Gordy Brown's going to hit the middle classes with the burden for sorting out the national debt....just as soon as he's finished being nice to them and after the election. To facilitate that he's addressing the social divide by replacing the term "working class" and you are heretofore to be known as middle class so now he can tax the hell out of you middle class bastards.
