Did you see that a secretary from Coca Cola has just been sent down for eight years for selling trade secrets to Pepsi ?
EIGHT YEARS !!!! FFS
Kiddy fiddlers get a lot less than that !!
What on earth did this person manage to tell Pepsi that they didn`t already know, that`s worth a sentence of eight years ??

Most financial and perverting the course of justice crimes seem to get a lot of years.
Dave_Notts
the punishments and crimes don't seem to balance out though, as you point out.

Fraud carries a long sentence, it's a breach of trust and especially as she would have probably signed something to the effect of not doing such things. Plus you have to bear in mind her past record, this may not have been the first time? - could well have a track record for it or previous convictions.

I really hate that word flower
But yes, I agree with you, the system does seem unfair - especially in light of the recent Portugal, it should be life imprisonment or bring back some of the old punishments! (I'm not going to go into that today  )
Industrial espionage can cost a company millions (possibly billions in this case!) in lost revenue, which could also affect jobs, factory closures and communities. It can have very far reaching consequences which we are not privy to when the decision is made.

well coke is a Class A Drug .... lol... crap i know.. but my brain is still waking up.
the system is F'ed up.. its outdated and in time for updated..
As i understood it,
Was'nt it the actual recipe she tired to sell...for $2 million to Coca-Cola's major rival.
It's not really a trade secret is it....its the whole basis of a multi billion dollar/pound franchise!
It seems she was rumbled by Pepsi themselves.

This of course was an US case, they are known for their high tarrifs, whatever the offence. According to the article linked to, she couldve got 30 years!

its been mentioned but companies like coca-cola sponsor and promote so heavily that a big sentence is layed down to deter those who think they will prosper from doing something similar.
But i can understand the fury of what seems a harsh punishment for some and not for others.
Dont start me on the copper who went at mad speed to 'test the car' and got away with it mad mad mad
