Have just logged on to SHeaven again for the first time in about two weeks....
The reason Influenza, or more commonly known as "The Flu"
Today was my first day back at work in a fortnight after enduring the worst aching, agonising, bed ridden 14 days of my life!
When my colleauges asked where i had been and why i had been off i informed them "i have had the Flu" to which three of them responded "oh ive got the Flu" or "ive had the Flu for the past couple of weeks" and "yeah me too im still a bit under the weather now!"......... mad :x :x
Now for anybody who has ever had "The Flu" and i do mean "The Flu" not some snivelling little cold where a runny and congested nose and headache attribute its entirety, you know what i mean and why the above infuriated me to such a degree i almost shoved my parker pens fountain tip into their eye sockets.
I have admittedly been guilty of saying the same in the past but believe me, when you have had "The Flu" you will never look at a cold the same way again or even put it in the same bracket as the real deal.
Next time somebody says it to me i intend to describe in great detail the agony of hardly being able to get out of bed in time to stop yourself shitting down your own leg and peeing yourself like an arthritic old man. Rach was great comfort to me during this time and slept downstairs as i did not want to infect her and have her endure the same fate!
A word of wisdom: scoff at those who moan at having flu, death would feel like a warm blanket on a cold winters morning if they really did!!
PS It was NOT bird flu and YES i really did piss myself!!
Sounds nasty - maybe you should patronise your work colleagues by calling it 'the real flu'!!
Aaaargh, you don't say where you are, I hope you're not in Yorkshire, I don't want your flu spreading round my way.
I agree with you - the last time I had "full-blown" flu was about eight years ago (in mid-summer as well, in brilliant hot weather) and it left me zonked for several weeks. Most people don't know what flu really is!
Yep can agree with that.
I have only ever had flu once and it dropped me like a stone, weak as a kitten, bed ridden and couldn't move for about 7 - 10 days
*does a smug, limping excuse for a dance, around the thread*
Ah ha ha haaaa... being a smug limping excuse for a human being, I get innoculated every year.
biggrin

After reading that first post, my immediate thought was that I want to be vaccinated too. Won't qualify for a free one at the doctors' surgery though - I hear Superdrug do it for 15 quid, so I'll try there.
i'm quite lucky - germs seem to stay away from me, i don't know why ???

Famous last words? lol
I hope not.
Cold or Flu ?
That's easypeasy
Women, girls and boys get colds - Men get flu.
Where's the problem dunno
see girls you are so lucky you don't get man flu rolleyes
Here's the acid test to determine whether someone really has flu or just a cold, however stinking that cold may be.
If there was a jackpot winning lottery ticket lying outside your front door which is yours if you go and get it now. Would you go and get it?
Answer 'Yes', you've got a cold
Answer 'No', you're pretending to have flu
Issue a barely audible groan - yep, you've got flu.
Couldn't agree more, had thousands of colds, but real flu only once. Its the same with migraines, people with an aching head say " oh poor me, i've got a migraine" while carrying on with their normal life. I have migraines, and when they hit, any thoughts of going out, work, play, or anything goes out of the window.
