I have not posted a topic for a while but had such an odd day that thought would do so now.
When I'm down I sometimes reach for 'comfort food'. (and also the odd drop of wine)
Today is one of my comfort food days.
So, it has to be Steak & Kidney Pudding, Mashed spuds, Peas and onion gravy. I can think of nothing better to provide that warm comfortable feeling.
Now obviously I would like to see what other people use to bolster themselves

as i dont eat meat (no comments thanks!! wink ) i would not get a lot of comfort from that... but give me a bar of choccy and i am laughing!!!!
I agree with WBB....... Chocolate everytime...... Especially on a cold winters day, hot chocolate with marshmallows.... mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm wink
Good Lord WBB. Have just, for the first time, checked out your ad. I would think that you would be the most appropriate comfort food going. Such a pity that I am 25 years older than you.

Chocolate is the ultimate comfort food.
When I'm feeling really bad (esp at PMT time), there's nothing better than macaroni cheese! biggrin
Ah, another cheese fan. You can't beat a good big block of cheese.
Unfortunately I can't eat much chocolate so that wouldn't really be a comfort food for me. At the moment that would go for wine (beer, spirits etc) too.
The food I do love the most though has to be. Corn beef, mash potateo and heinz veg soup poured over it. I love to mash it all up and then just shovel it in. It sounds really odd I know but it is scrumpsious.

Hmmm, my favourite has to be Roast Lamb (with lots of garlic and mint sauce), roast potatoes, and swede and carrot mashed together.
Followed by Sticky Toffee Pudding....
Not so much a comfort food as a comfort drink - Tesco Sparkling Cherry drink does the trick for me. Yummmm...

mmm yes, has to be REAL macaroni cheese though... not tinned!!
I tend to eat comfort food that I can just grab quickly
As they don't seem to do Walkers Sea Salt and Balsamic Vinegar Sensations anymore mad :x :x I have to settle for a bag of Lamb and Mint ones instead cool mmmmm
With you on the cheese thing too, plate of different cheeses with digestive biscuits Yum! biggrin
oooh oooh - or a plate of cold meats with a chunk of french bread cool
sounds like anything goes misschief??
foodwise I mean!
A glass of heavy dry red wine (eastern european Cabernet Sauvignon) with seriously evil *real* chocolate - nothing less than 70% cocoa solids.
The two together are totally indulgant and totally over the top but work so well to set off the brain's endorphins like fireworks.
Works for me, any how !

Yep, have never been able to get the hang of this 'fussy eating' lark! biggrin
Don't have time to wait for a cooker to warm up to get my comfort food, besides, the 'treat' cupboard is en route to the cooker, so I always get a bit sidetracked in there! (niceguysdoexist :gagged: :gagged: :gagged: )
Late again! I'd try to claim I was late home from work but someone might have noticed I've been logged on for 20 minutes.
'Fraid (and I know this might get a YUK from some) it's fresh bread and Marmite for me.
No YUK! from me westerross, marmite on toast is a good fix. Biscuits or chocolate also sooth the moment for me when comfort is needed smile
Rachel
They say you either like Marmite or hate it. I'm so glad that kindred spirit was nearby, Rachel.
Mmmmm.....chocolate biscuits - now ther's a comforting thought! hump Ooops sorry.. passionkiss

No tinned for me every time, preferably cold... Strange I know but I am also a fast food comfort eater, crisp sarnies with spreadable cheese, cheese in general in fact. Dont really do the chocolate thing, but it ok with cheese.
Hmm starting to see a pattern here ;)
Beef.
Whenever I'm fed up I get a powerful urge to devour great chunks of beef. Hot is best, but cold with lashings of English Mustard will do almost as well. Can't explain it: I just love it.
A large packet of Revels does it for me !!! :P :P :P
Smarties!!!
Has anybody got the letter G from the lids? smile
