Community. I have read the word ‘community’ banded about quite a bit in a variety of ways.
It made me wonder (without rushing off to a dictionary)…. What is your perception of its meaning?

a community is in my oppinion a place where a group of people gather these people range in age & life expericnce from a diverse background
they stick together & defend one another against anyone or anything that threatens them
a community needs new people in to so it can florish & expand,to bring new life & experience so it can evolve & gain strenth so it can never die
this is my oppinion for what its worth & i love this community

Its a whole,made up of individuals who relate to each other in certain ways,a certain lifestyle choice in this case.
That whole is bigger than any individual or group of individuals even but constructive opinions and viewpoints are allowed and can enable the community to evolve.
Each person feels included and valued within it.

A community is a diverse group of people brought together by one common factor.
As in a family, there will be differing ages, outlooks, personalities, and experiences. Not everyone will get along with everyone else. There will be personality clashes, arguments, and occasional conflicts.................but just like a family, they will band together against adversity and support each other.

Lisa, I wish I could have put that post on, but it is exactly what a community is about!
I was going to type what I thought a community was, but I think the others have already done it for me. I have highlighted the parts which, for me, have the strongest sentiments, but I could have actually said that everything that the others have said, relates to what I feel a community is.

community combines everything you have all said into one along with something we all never notice , we all live in a community but how many of our so called "good neighbours" do we actually know yet we all jump to defend them or help them ? the answer several and thats whats called community spirit , the same as i have seen some folk in chat being slandered and whoosh before you know it the "community" within is there to defend or speak up for ...............now thats what i call commuinty in harmony

Am probably guilty of much of the community rant lately 
we cam all get a dictionary out but i think "community" is something where a gathering of people, with differing views and opinions can all get together, discuss and even argue their diverse plethora of opinions without resulting in a mass brawl as the fundemental issue is they all have something in common!!
That they care about, or at least have the decency not to wish harm to the people who inhabit or use the space or place in which they choose to reside or spend their time!!
