the only difference between the chatroom and the forum in that respect is that i have time to think about what i am writing.....the chatroom if you are quick and on the ball is great... but sometimes you can't have anywhere near the depth on conversation you could on the forums.... if i had taken anywhere near the amount of time in the chatroom with this same answer, you all would be miles ahead of me, or onto perving over the next set of tits that were on cam!!!!

I think that what Fabio says here is close to the mark Dawnie...
Could it be that it is where you started out from in the first place? If you were first on the Forum, your style in the Chatroom reflects that, so you are more conscious how you present yourself whereas if you started in the chatrooms (as I did) and later progress to the Forum, the less "instant" and more permanent style catches you out.
People do have more time to reflect on a post and its nuances in the Forum whereas in the chatroom, its said, done and dusted and probably removed from the screen by the time the next member decides to join in the affray (sometimes thankfully!).

As I said, Im not having a go at you, but I am genuinely trying to understand.

You are so wrong NWC. You couldn't have read all my posts of late. Even those that you have read, it would be quite wrong to say that I have complained at all about the way the site is run, quite the opposite in fact..
Actually GnV, you are quite wrong here, as a moderator we do have to read all the posts, so I can honestly say, hand on heart, I have read all your posts of late and IN MY OPINION they APPEAR to be very negative about the forums, the people who use the forums and how the site is run. As I said in my first post, it is not me having a go, it is me trying to understand.

I have made mention about cliques - as indeed others have in the past - and that has fired off a healthy debate...

I dont disagree with this, and yes I can honestly say that IN MY OPINION there are cliques on here, just like there are cliques in the Chat Rooms, like there are cliques at probably every pub in this county, and every workplace, street and club. It is a part of life, people bounce of some better than others and therefore, they then go on to reply to any future posts made by that person. Before long, someone says its a clique. But the part which is important is how others behave towards those cliques. Do they join in, do they also post in the threads, do they get themselves known so that before very long, someone else begins to bounce of them, and again another clique is formed. Its more how we, as users of the site, interpret thoses cliques, rather than how the people who are in the cliques behave.

I have quoted this bit of your post as I think it actually answers the question/comments you raised above. As you say, people do have time to read and digest things in the forums and therefore, depending on the emoticon you have used, they have the time to interpret your post. Sometimes they interpret it as it was written, other times they interpret it completely wrong. BUT the emoticon can help to show the mood in which the post was written ie wink possibly meaning lighthearted or tongue in cheek, think that one explains itself, and the one which you like to use, rolleyes which in interpreted as the 'rolling my eyes' as Im typing, sarcastic tone to the post.
So, maybe it is because of your 'passion' with the little man which is causing some of the problems and perhaps some of your posts are being taken as being negative, or non-humerous as a result of the emoticon (it could also be because you do always seem to have a touch of sarcasm in your posts as well, but that is not a criticsm, it just seems to be your way of posting). (notice the wink at the end) and as I said in my very post in this thread, it wasnt a dig at you, it was a genuine question. lol
which icon do I use to represent non-sarcasm to neutralise my style?
or is there a combination of them??
and forgive me for going back, but please let me know where I have been negative about how the site is run.. I can't find a single reference. redface wink confused smile
