Have you ever been given a compliment and then thought :shock: was that actually what you meant to say?!
Last night someone told me "You look like you've not had sex for a while. But you have a pretty face, I've noticed that." rolleyes
As Mrs Bonedigger has so eloquently put, what was he trying to say - that I was okay-looking but drooling?!

Many years ago I was visiting NZ with my 18 month old son. We were at a supermarket when we met up with an elderly friend of my Mum's. She looked at me then at the baby and said " Isn't he a lovely looking boy? Does he take after his Father?" I know what she meant but it didn't come out like that.
