Hello computer-techy-folk,
I have a laptop with trackpad mouse thingy. Lately, I am finding that when using my finger to move the cursor across the screen whole swathes of text are being picked up and highlighted.
It all seems to have become hyper-sensitive.
Is this fixable? It's bloomin' annoying.
Start > Control Panel > Hardware > Mouse Settings > Mouse Properties.
Have you tried swearing at it ????
Dust...
Get your Hoover out, then clear the keyboard, then follow the previous OP's suggestion.
Not Staggerlee's, Gu's suggestion.
or plug in a usb mouse n forget about the pad
Take care that you're not touching the mouse with a second fingertip - even very lightly. That will confuse it.
If you want to clean your mouse-pad do it when the machine is switched off and use a cloth dampened with water, very very only damp. If you see what mean. Microfibre cloths are great for cleaning computery stuff as they work without detergents.
In edit - if you are taking a hoover to your laptop keyboard you may be in danger of flicking a key off and losing it up the tube. Stretch a piece of tights across the end of your hoover tube to stop anything bigger than dust going up it. (Also recommended for cleaning delicate fabrics like velvet curtains).
You could benefit from running the hoover over the air vents at the back - to hoik the dust out of the workings.
