Hi all
have people read the papers today polic officer sacked for dogging on duty tut tut

Quote by BBC News Online
A police officer from Bristol has been sacked after he allegedly went "dogging" while on duty.
A disciplinary hearing heard Pc Darren Lumber, 35, joined in with a man and a woman as they had sex in a car park at Sand Point, near Weston-super-Mare.
Asst Ch Con Steve Mortimore branded his behaviour "disgraceful".
Mr Lumber, who was dismissed on the grounds of misconduct, said he had always "strongly denied" the allegation and would appeal against the decision.
Mr Lumber, who was a beat manager in Kewstoke, was investigated after a fellow member of staff became concerned about his behaviour.
Utmost honesty
The alleged incident took place last December at the National Trust beauty hotspot.
Assistant Chief Constable Steve Mortimore said the force would not tolerate "dogging".
"His actions do not represent the professionalism of the 5,000 plus police officers and police staff who work for this organisation," he said.
"The public of Avon and Somerset expect, quite rightly, our staff to behave in a manner befitting their position and with the utmost honesty and integrity."
I did read about this and it did raise a wry smile.

So many witticisms come to mind, but it's probably not appropriate biggrin
would it have made a difference if he hadn't been on duty? dunno

Sadly, probably not.
We have a habit of imposing restrictions on people's private lives according to the job they do, as if it affects the quality if their work or something. confused It is one of my bug bears and I really wish that folk would start to realise that someone's interests outside of work hours are none of their business.
However, in this case it was done in 'company time' and I can't really argue with the fact theyve sacked him. That time he spent shagging on the carpark while on duty, he should have been spending on his job... that is a dismissable event no matter the job I guess, but somehow when it's a public service worker, I can't help feel a bit robbed of their time. Especially when we couldn't get a police officer when we were being attacked in the city centre. :?
