Controlled Parking Zones have some use in most circumstances. But when an entire area comes under its use, what is likely to happen?
What could happen is that, say on a Sunday afternoon you pop out to do some shopping, and return to find 'your' road is full of cars, all with permits.
Where can you go? The entire area is under CPZ. You either have to spend the day in a car park, or park miles away from your home, or knock on someone's door wherevere you can find a space and ask for a permit?
So is the CPZ the solution or the problem now?
Build more car parking, lots more. Legislate that all dwellings have parking for the inhabitants, even flats. OK, charge for other parking but make it nominal not prohibitive. enough to sustain the car park and not for profit. Give people with only the option of off street parking permits as part of their properties conditions of sale.
CPZ? yup they're part of the problem. But hey its a new natio0nal industry so it's just going to get worse and worse. It wouldn't surprise me if at somepoint you park not knowingly and before you get out of your car some bastard shoots you and then your charged for being killed professionally as well as parking iffily with the money then being taken out of your estate or failing that attachment to earnings of your kinfolk.
Yeah, I want Controlled Barking Zones! The neighbour's dogs can be a real nuisance.
We are currently in the middle getting a controlled parking zone in this area, being close to the shopping centre and college & a lot of other businesses to boot, it gets ridiculous and we get loads of cars parked that don't live round here (and abuse by some if you even dare block them in for 5 minutes to empty the car of shopping) I am all for it.
We get 1 free pass and a free visitors pass when it comes into action and more can be purchased if necessary for a minimal amount if you live within a zone. For this area it will work well, not many of the tenants actually have cars (in the parking bit where Dek parks there is only Dek's car and 2 other tenants cars and parking for 10 - 12 cars all of which gets filled daily by none tenants
If people wish to go out and buy a pass to park here (at quite a large amount I believe) then good for them.
