I once had a huge craving for sprouts. To the point I went out, bought fresh ones, cooked them and ate a plateful. They were lovely. Ok I like sprouts anyway but I'm a lazy person. I wouldn't normally go out specially for chocolate just cos I wanted some. So what was going on? I reckon that when you get a really irresistable craving for something specific it is down to your body craving a missing nutrient. When I feel 'snacky' I think through different kinds of foods and often find I would much rather have A instead of B and it isn't always to do with what I would normally prefer. But I rarely DON'T want chocolate :D so that is obviously a special case. :D

Sprout cravings are widely understood. Check out any of Robert Rankins books for a full explanation.
