Hi,
Are you a credit card tart..?...you know..jumping from one credit card company to another offering 0% balance transfers.
I am (or was) and reckon I've saved a small fortune over the last couple of years. (haven't done the maths..never my strongest subject)....Thankfully, I am now CC free... wink
CheekyChimp.... cool
Slightly off topic I know, but when I'm in the queue in a shop or garage I get so pissed off with everyone paying for everything from a single choccie bar through to fuel plus whatever else by using a credit card.
It takes soooooooooo bloody long. mad :x I only use cash. Much quicker!
Not quite the CC tarts you had in mind I know, cheeky smile Sorry for the rant redface surprisedops:  I guess I am in a small minority on this one dunno

Your not Eager....that pisses me off too..! I only use CC's for my household bills, petrol and electrical items. When I go shopping for clothes (quite often..!) I've always taken cash and rec'd a discount (after demanding one of course)..!

I gotta get everything on plastic cause I never have any cash anymore. I am lucky if I see any cash from one month to the next. The only time I ever take any money out is when I'm off for a drink... and thats not often
at most places you have to spend a min of £5 to use a card, good idea all places should do it
Well............ there was just no need for it... the person had enough chewing gum in their bloody gob to last a fortnight as it was.... ok it was raining and she probably didn't want to get her fecking hair wet... but it was out of order... mad
BTW it was when the bloke behind the counter looked up at me that I thought oops that was a bit loud redface but I must admit when the silly tart was leaving I did giggle and have a good ole rolleyes hahahaha....
wink it's the quiet one's you gotta watch

nope, I don't jump around that often but thats because I hold several credit cards that cover most of the major brands and use each for different types of purchases. I use credit cards extensively mainly in connection with my work and would really struggle to operate the way I do without them. I agree it is frustrating when someone makes a small purchase with one, although I kinda think that we all need to get used to the various forms of electronic purchasing that currently exists and being expanded on, cos cash wont be the payment of choice in the future.

I still have CC's but they're well under control and the balances are very low - only used for internet purchases, bills, petrol, holidays etc.. There was a time when I was placing all my spending on them and it soon mounts up. That's when I started moving the balance to other companies offering 0% interest and a few yrs ago some companies were even offering a cash back incentive....the way I see it, why pay interest if there's no need.
CheekyChimp..... 8-)

Then I'm gonna starve
I think it was Tesco's who announced recently that cash won't be accepted in some of their stores.
How f*****g arrogant is that? mad :x
What other dictats will they start issuing when they control everything? dunno
I suppose there's someone out there who will think "well money's so unhygienic, and it makes your hands dirty and carries germs"
Howard Hughes would've seen it like that and look where it got him?
No thanks!
bolt
No you won't starve Eager cos you will end up with a card of some sort in your pocket, what types and how quickly, who knows, but I kinda think you ain't gonna have a lot of choice dunno
I use my credit card for everything i can......firstly because the money then stays in my account earning interest, until the end of the month when they want the money....and also with my credit card i get a 1% cash back on all purchases at the end of the year. accounted for nearly £200 last year......better than a poke in the eye with a wooden stick i would say !!!
How could I download porn without a credit card lol

cheeky! lol
I have never had a credit card and only recently got a debit card like NN if i cant afford it I dont buy it.
I am also with Eager slut on the using credit cards to pay for little things like a pint of milk- as a checkout asst do you know how frustrating it is???? It akes so much longer than cash even with chip and in. The worst culprits are the people who come into the shop during their lunch hour, only buy a couple of things and then use the 10 items or less checkout - even though the other checkouts are free- and then get shitty with me cos the queue takes forever ffs!!!!!!!!!!!!! mad :x :x
Sorry rant and hijack over redface

Cashback: I would do something similar, I have no clue what my pin number is, so I couldn't use the cash machine outside, I'd buy something small and get cashback.
Small Purchases: Just like DeanCannock, everything I buy will go onto the creditcard unless they won't accept it or I can get a better discount paying by another method, be that DirectDebit or cash.
The following 2 techniques need financial discipline, if you have decided that credit cards give you too much temptation then don't even think about it, it's far too easy to get into real trouble with these techniques.
Rate Tarting:Yes I do, but not in that way, rate tarting generally refers to someone who has had a loan, or has built up a retail debt from a card and transfers it between cards keeping it on 0%, it is not difficult to get a £20,000 loan from credit cards and rate tart, effectively paying no interest (some card companies have started charging for transfers now though)
Stoozing: This is similar to rate tarting, but makes money rather than just saving interest, and this is what I do. Get a card with a 0% Balance Transfer (BT) rate on it and do a BT to a bank account if they will let you, alternatively do a BT to a card that allows transfers to banks, this is called routing (Egg cards are often used for this as they permit routing at no cost), transfer this cash to a higher rate savings account. If you can afford to pay the monthly payments from your normal salary then do so, as this will help you to save more quickly. When the BT rate is about to finish get another card with 0% BT rate and transfer to that.
After a couple of years Stoozing it is not difficult to keep around £20,000 sitting in a deposit account earning around 5% per year, so that around £1000 per year earned in interest for an hour or so a month.
If anyone wants any more information, just ask :rascal:
