me neither..... maybe people will end up being smarter as such with there money.....everyone just has to tighten there belt and cut there cloth so to speak accordingly.........
I was getting about 25p pocket money in the '70s.
Come to think of it - I reckon I was better off then (disposable income).
Once I pay the mortgage, food, bills and the rest goes to the government in various forms I have bugger all left so no risk of me popping out every week to buy new clothes and stuff for the house.
When I kick the bucket, however, it's unlikely my son will ever have to work again. LOL Methinks I'm going wrong somewhere.
Always skint! We live to our means and always have...bugger all in savings but we do know how to live!!!
Just hope we peg it tho b4 we need a pension lmao

Excatly the same here!!! lol
I blame the greedy banks. Lending money via mortgages and loans, to all and everyone. Very irresponsible of them to be giving 100% and 125% mortgages etc., to people who were never equipped to repay them.

I'm glad somebody has brought up about banks.
I got a call on weds morning from my bank Barclays. Asking why my main direct debit hadn't been paid this month(may). So i said to the guy on the fone... "You tell me".
I was told. "Well, it should of been paid on the 15th of may but it wasn't because if we had of paid it, it would of brought your account ALMOST up to the limit"!!. confused
"Almost"???? I asked. "So in other words, the money WAS there, but you didn't pay it coz it brought my account "ALMOST" up to the limit, so instead, you have given me £65 in charges????"!!!
"Yes thats right, i will refund £35, no £70 to you because this shudn't of happened"!!
Damn :censored: right it shouldn't of happened!!!
And we wonder why we are skint!!
It pays to read your bank statements!

I'd wholeheartedly agree with this, and go further - these days we all have to be "clever" with what little money we have. Although maths isn't my strong point I spent a lot of time reading up on economics etc and my mantra regarding money is:- challenge everything. Bank charges, credit rates, utility company charges etc etc Swapping one credit card to another on a regular basis works wonders, as does mortgage renewals.

Don't say that too loud... the banks may indeed make us pay to read our statements :P

True but the minute my son turned 18 (in fact before that) various credit card companies were sending him offers for credit cards. I can see that that would be very tempting for someone whose parent didn't make it clear that taking out said credit card would result in removal of future parenting prospects.
And once they have you, you can be stuck with debt for years. They should NOT be allowed to cold-call, cold-post, spam or ANYTHING to anyone who is not clearly in a job.
