Not sure if it is breaking laws but was meaning more from a safety aspect?

If you look both ways and there's nothing coming then that's the safety aspect covered biggrin
You may even get a Tufty Club badge for it. wink
Aha!!! :P

Or how about Darth Vader on his day off...
Or even Charlie liking his share of friendly pussy...
I think there are more idiot car drivers than there are bike riders even given the 16-25 yr old brackets. It is only how I perceive things without having any knowledge of the matter. An interesting subject,it would be nice to see you back up your case with stuff Peanut you usually do so really well, and in a good way too. Definatly not a waste of time for those like myself who enjoy your reasoned posts
As for crossing when I think its safe to do so Tan? Yeah I do it for sure.

Yes there certainly are more lousy car drivers than bike riders. That's why I said proportionally. There are far fewer bike riders than car drivers so a direct comparison is inaccurate and misleading. Once you start bringing ratios into it things change.

I can't remember where I saw the figures, and I don't have much time at the mo' to go try to find them. If I remember, or get a period where I can spend any decent time on it I will.
Just heard on the news this morning, that anyone who kills while using a mobile phone at the wheel will face a prison term... the ministry of justice said that they expect 150 motorists a year to be jailed. (And notice its anyone.. not just cars..)
Distraction under the law could be by texting or calling on mobile phone, drinking or eating, adjusting a satnav or car stereo, applying make up or reading a map. Under previous laws the maximum punishment was a £5000 fine and points on your licence.
It might make people think twice now... what do you guys think?

to be honest i think that most people who do these things will still do them .... they probably think they are good enough drivers to not cause an accident or get caught doing the texting etc !!
I think you're probably right.. and they will be shouting the loudest when they get jailed...
