Dangers of Detox

ive had a bad headache and cold type symtoms before.
i think the severity of the symptoms depends on how much crap you are flushing out your system. usually it recommends detoxing on either a break from work or at least a very gentle week.
if your symptoms are that bad, stop the detox, try gradually cutting out some bad stuff for the next 2 weeks or so, drinking plenty water, then try it again.
Ermmm, I've never even heard of "prepared" detox teatments confused , but I did buy a book from a health food shop years ago and followed the de-tox plan in there. I forget the details but I think it involved eating nothing but certain fruits and drinking water for several days. Apart from going for a piss every 5 mins :? , it did give me loads of energy :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: until I started to eat proper food again :shock: . It said introduce foods slowly and I did, but it probably didn't mean start off with apple pie :doh: . I think it must have fermented or something cos I was as sick as a dog for the whole night and I felt like shit the next day sad .
I didn't try it again for a long long time :eeek: , but I did a 48 hour de-tox with water and blackcurrant juice dunno a year or two back. I suffered no ill effects from that, but I'm in no great rush to do it again :lol2:
drinking plenty of water each day is one of the best things you can do...
says me... redface ive been drinking plenty wine and not enough water so i cant talk really,
especially after the first bottle, its more of a slur by then.
I think it is 8 pints of water should be drunk each day and it does help your body in so many ways even though you may pop to the toilet more than usual lol

This site: recommends 2.5 litres, or 4.4 pints per day for adults. WIth 8 pints, you would become diluted wink

8 pints of water is true if you do alot of physical exercise because you need to drink alot more during your training than when your less active

Detox very dangerous indeed
If I dont get the alcohol/caffeine/nicotine balance just right my body just gives up :shock: :shock:
however if i do balance it right I feel no need to eat so that saves a bob or two lol
where did you get the detox kit from? i know Boots used to do them in a variety of 3, 5 and i think 7 day kits? perhaps one of the longer ones would be less agressive?
I am dubious about the value of detox kits and the concept of 'toxins' coursing round your body. I do accept that some people have very unhealthy diets and should have them reformed. You shouldn't treat your body like a cess pit which needs to be emptied of gunk which is what some of these plans encourage.
Really the best you can do is eat sensibly and EXERCISE EXERCISE EXERCISE, much better than starving yourself for 3 days, making your body weak and suceptable to illness.
I once made the mistake of going on a Dettox diet :uhoh: They say 'mind your Ps and Qs' but sometimes it's the Ts that need attention....
