Most of us go through our lives in a rush. As a result many important things happen by chance.
We spend days and weeks worrying over small problems (such as which car to buy) but never find time to ponder big questions (how do I really want to spend the rest of my life?).
We never have time to stop and think about who we are, what we do or where our lives are heading.
So take a little time today to answer these questions.
You may find that in doing so you learn a bit more about yourself - and a little more about who you are and where you're heading.
1. Take away your family, your job, your home and your money. What is left?
2. What in your life gives you the most stress and the most grief? What makes you miserable? What can you do to have less of that in your life?
3. What gives you the most pleasure? What can you do to get more of it?
4. Which individuals do you most admire? Why? How could you change your life to match their ideals?
5. How could you best improve your life?
6. What are the three most important lessons you have learned in your life? (Imagine you are dying and you want to pass on your greatest learning. What would you say?)
7. If you could give the world just one Commandment what would it be?
8. If you had all the money you needed what would you do with any extra money you acquired?
9. If you found out you had exactly five years to live, in your present state of health, what would you do with your life? What would you change?
10. If you had 24 hours to live what would you regret not having done or tried?
When you've finished answering these questions pass them on to the person you love most.
A nice bit of life enhancement goodtime.
Thank you.
1. Take away your family, your job, your home and your money. What is left?
Peace, blessed peace.
2. a) What in your life gives you the most stress and the most grief? What makes you miserable?
Work. The bosses acting like it should be the be all and end all of my life.
2. b) What can you do to have less of that in your life?
See number 1.
3. a) What gives you the most pleasure?
Food and sharing it.
3. b) What can you do to get more of it?
I have my name down for an allotment.
4. a) Which individuals do you most admire? Why?
Hmmm, hard one, people who rise above the crap that's thrown at them and still are lovely people.
4. b) How could you change your life to match their ideals?
God knows, but if I find out I'll post the answer on here.
5. How could you best improve your life?
Help my son to get into Uni and encourage him through his course.
6. What are the three most important lessons you have learned in your life? (Imagine you are dying and you want to pass on your greatest learning. What would you say?)
In 50 years no-one will know or care what you did at work today.
Do not EVER take work home with you on paper or in your mind.
If you think something nice about someone tell them - if you think something nasty about them, shut up.
7. If you could give the world just one Commandment what would it be?
Play nice.
8. If you had all the money you needed what would you do with any extra money you acquired?
Help people to have a clean and safe home.
9. If you found out you had exactly five years to live, in your present state of health, what would you do with your life? What would you change?
Cancel my mortgage, rent a lovely little cottage somewhere in Yorkshire and grow vegetables and keep pigs.
10. If you had 24 hours to live what would you regret not having done or tried?
Nothing - I recently took up painting - an ability I thought I could never have.
