anyone seen delia`s new "cookery" series? teaching people to cook out of cans and ready meals. could have got a couple of students to make the show and saved some idea.

I totally agree ! The programme is awful!
We get Delia showing us how to cook out of tins from her particular chosen store (which i think most of us can mannage, what we want is to learn how to do the clever stuff!) and then we get 'treated' to insights into Delia's personal life ! Wow, tell me more about your mother's speeding ticket and how much you love going to church.
I feel that Delia is trying to get funky and copy Nigella's style, but actually she just looks like a twat.
How can you be excited by tinned meat?

I liked Delia's very exact approach to cooking using great stuff from scratch. It's a shame that she feels she needs to get hip as i think there's always room for Delia as Delia should be. :sad:

Delia virtually taught me to cook and I have to say I have become quite good at it, but all this stuff now.... I mean tinned mince???? Has anyone ever tried eating that stuff? And how is it any easier than the fresh stuff?
It may be quick but some of it would be bloody expensive! A lot of the 'ingredients' she uses are from Waitrose or M & S and it's the sort of stuff that once it's been opened it needs using in a couple of days. You'd have to have the same meal 3 nights on the trot to be cost effective else you'd have a fridge full of stuff going off.
Im my view TV cooks fall into two groups.
One group consist of folk who know about cooking and have something worth listening to to say.
The other group are TV presenters with an interest in cooking.
I think Delia started off as the first but didn't have a lot to say and quickly became a member of group 2.
In evidence I offer her repetition of how to boil an egg and potatoes in earlier years and her current decline into how to boil pasta in a bag.

Then suddenly I was promoted to an executive position and had all sorts of propositions. May be it was just my self esteem rising. I can only offer my experience not an explanation.
From my own perspective Ive always found people who are happy in themselves incredibly attractive but when I was in long term "committed" relationships I had the dignity not to act on those feelings.
I have to admit a pretty woman in a nice uniform did and does give me a thrill.

Delia is obviously rebuilding her pension fund 'cos the canaries obviously can't do it for her any more.
It's got absolutely nothing to do with cooking, good health and the enjoyment of food. It has everything to do with her building a cash pile by promoting crap food full of E numbers which contributes significantly to making the nation's kids go hypo with the associated consequences.

Shame really; she used to have a good reputation. Time for her to hang up her spatula I think.
