it appears that the recent death of over 20 dolphins of the coasts of the uk may not be "down to nature" as the media now been revealed the MOD were sonar testing at the time of this sad that the dolphin is amongst the most intelligent spieces to inhabit this planet why would they press the self distruct button an swim into waters they know to be unsafe.......makes you think
Tests are still being carried out.
It seems they were healthy before they died.
I'm not taking the blame for this one!!!   wink
This link may be of interest. There is a lot of opinion out there that ANY sonar is bad for cetaceans (dolphins etc) and that the newer extra-powerful sonar is fatal to them.

that was my first thought! rotflmao I thought you lot were gonna get it! haha
all reports state the mod have said they were not sonar testing at the time, there were no warships in the area.
it was one rumoured explination. no evidence.

it has been confirmed that the MOD did have submarine activity in the area and were testing live rounds. the most likely explaination is that the dolphins were scared by the activity. A warning to all fishermen was sent out weeks in advance. I think we have to accept that testing has to take place, and they can't exactly wait for all marine life to evacuated. As horrible as it is, we have to accept from time to time these things may well happen, in the name of our our own security.

Fem, in the two nights after 9/11, there were low flying military aircraft flying overhead here every 15/20 minutes. The MOD said it didn't happen. All the authorities said it didn't happen. The local (ex-mod) airport officials said it didn't happen.
This is all despite the fact that hundreds of local residents were trying to find out what had happened, and the denials raised so much suspiscion that it was all over the local rags for weeks.
It bloody well happened.
We are the mods we are the mods we are we are we are the mods.
I had bars and stuff on my vespa years ago but sonar! things have come a long way.
I think Dean went swimming and 'let one go' it seems the most logical explanation to us...

oh bloody hell..i'm geting the blame again.. lol
the navel crews that were in the area are ones that are quite often in that area, this has not happened before.
the live testing was carried out in plymouth. days before. and 60 plus miles away.
maybe we should blame the gig rowers as they were all in that area racing on the sunday.
i live a few miles from this location.
this thread gave the impresion the mod were responisble and later admitted that.
i just dont like blame going where its not proven.
the navy get a lot of flack off locals in this area already.
maybe they were to blame? but i just wanted to clarify they have not be proven to be.
