When I was 18 A group of us 'lads' went to Soho to errrmmmm you know how it is....
Well we did a peep show which had a nice looking girl in some lingerie sitting in a room reading a magazine having a fag - that was interesting (yawn) Then we did another horrible place with smelly booths (the memory still lingers) but in which there was a woman in there using a vibrator on herself - which at the time was almost breathtaking to us 18 year old testosterone saturated cash rich country boys.
Finally though we decided on a live sex show!!! cool or what! We payed our 2 quids to go into a dimly lit room. Some ladies were on a big bed in the corner of a room chatting and smoking with each other clothed in just normal attire (jeans sweatshirt type tops etc legwarmers - well it was the early 80's)
We got asked if we wanted drinks we said "no thanks"
To which we were told no drinks no show! Well we each bought a coke to be billed for on leaving. Then 2 of the ladies came across and said we must buy them drinks if anything was to happen,
We realised now that this was going no where fast so we thought we would leave. Not before being charged £12:50(early 80's remember) each for a plastic disposable coffee cup full of coke!! We started to complain bitterly, but out came 2 very large foreign 'gentlemen' shoutimg at us in a foreign language. We looked sheepishly at each other and left quickly.
The worst thing was being 18yrs old we dissappeared to covent garden had lots of beers got up dutch courage to go and have it out with the guys to this club. And, promptly got nicked by the Police. Who, laughed like drains on hearing our stories and escorted us back to Victoria station to get a coach home.
It was a really crap expensive day out for 4 lads trying to get laid in london!

An all-too-familiar tale told with gusto and vim and read with a sense of incredulity that even in the 80's there were folks taken in by the expensive flesh pots of Soho.
Stick to the country little mouse, as you have found the city is loud, bright and expensive.
wink

lol i think i love you!!!!

You're not the only one
The clip joints are still in Soho. They actually do operate within the licensing and sellers laws (albeit extravagantly inflated prices), which is why they continue to get away with it.

yep and there is always some silly c**t going into one of them...fooled by the half naked woman outside.
Well... rings bells this tale lol..
Early 80's again.. Group of us headed into the bright lights late one evening driving down thinking we were in for a brill night.. Started well when we entered a car park near Soho to be asked for 15 quid to park!!! We said no chance mate.. your having a laugh.. So to get out we had to make everyone behind back up (He would not even let us turn round in the car park) We found a space in a Building Society spot.. well after 11pm now lol.. No one gonna be around surely we thought!! After wandering round getting robbed left right and centre.. being bored stupid we decided sod it..back to Nottm Off to the car.. Oh yeah.. Locked in by a Big Barrier.. (No Clamp though) We asked a few passers by who had the key.. Mmmm No way!! Rang the police even.. (Yes Naive lol) They laughed.. Then we rang all the bells on the buildings nearby.. Very popular lol.. Then ... after nothing it was simple.. A crow bar and brute force sorted the problem.. Never heard another thing nor ever been back.
Soho?? Keep it..... Its a joke!

I was in Soho on Friday on a work related matter and walking past one of the above mentioned premises and over heard three young Australian guys being enticed by a semi naked young lady. One of them saying "I'm up for anything for just five pounds". thought to myself it'll cost you a lot more than that mate.
Just at that moment a police car pulled up in the road and beckoned one of the lads over for a word in his shell like.
I don't know the outcome but I guess they were dissuaded from their adventure.

Maybe the police person had been taken round the corner for a few quid by the same semi naked young lady lol
I spent a fantastic evening in Soho last summer - remember we had good weather last summer - I was staying in London and went out after dinner and walked round all evening and all night, all round the West End and down to the river. Hundreds of people everywhere all rubber-necking, families with kids, TVs pouring out of the Rocky Horror Show, veiled ladies (well I presume they were), tourists in trishaws - very entertaining watching people, and it didn't cost a penny.
Oh, yes, the disappointment! Following the 'should I pay for it' thread last week, I arranged to meet a lady last Friday. We met in a pub, discussed terms and conditions, exchanged money, and then set out to her place ...
... and as we crossed the road she ran off into the distance!
No-one warned me I should have taken my running shoes with me! lol
