You can have a British passport, belong to the British forces and kicked butt for Britain as much as you like, it still won't make you a native Brit. No more than me moving to Pakistan and eventually gaining Pakistani nationality either for myself or my family will get me to be a native Pakistani.
I'm just betting the scarecrow was your favourite character in the Wizard of Oz!

No wonder your called peanut. You said british not a native of britain. A native of britian. Sorry to inform you I am a native of Britain oh dear me...
na⋅tive   /ˈneɪtɪv/ Show Spelled Pronunciation Show IPA Pronunciation
–adjective 1. being the place or environment in which a person was born or a thing came into being: one's native land.
So if someone in the street is told choose between you and I as to which is British and which is Asian. They'll choose you as the Brit?
You are 2nd generation British, you are not native British, there is a succinct difference. The fact you choose to ignore it using semantics is your problem not mine.
Ordinarily on a day to day basis there is no difference to me between the types of Brit, but the fact of the matter is we are having a discussion based on what is traditionally British and I'm guessing that your upbringing had more to do with Asian traditions than British ones (take note I used "more" and not "solely"). Even your religion is not traditionally British, so for the purposes of this discussion please desist from the semantic bollocks you have been using. You know full well what I mean and what I have been referring to.
As a sidebar it tickles me that you highlight a part of what I wrote then proceed to write stuff that bears no relationship to it at all. rolleyes
Sorry but I would never class myself as British, only English...to me there is a difference.
It seems that a lot of people are trying their hardest to get rid of the " English " in a lot of things.
Even on the census forms it only says British, and when somebody crossed that out and put English, and refused to change it they took him to court. I would never class myself British...not in a million years.

Yes because if we moan about it, we are then called racists. You cannot win but I will never lose my English identity, whatever the census form says.
right.......... time to put the cat amongst the pidgeons...
If you are from anywhere within the United Kingdom of Great Britain.... you are British....
FACT.

Point of order m'lud, one doesn't have to be born in Britain to be British.

looks to me like a case of "denial"
Denial is a defense mechanism postulated by Sigmund Freud, in which a person is faced with a fact that is too uncomfortable to accept and rejects it instead, insisting that it is not true despite what may be overwhelming evidence. The subject may deny the reality of the unpleasant fact altogether (simple denial), admit the fact but deny its seriousness (minimisation) or admit both the fact and seriousness but deny responsibility (transference).

I agree, but I should point out that pointing to a Wikipedia page as proof of any fact is a little remiss of you :P

A fair point but you ask any Scotsman what he is. If you called him British he would punch your lights out. lol
Why is it that people do not like the word English? Is it a disease or something? dunno
I do not really care what the wikipedia says... I will always see myself as English....period for me.

so where's the Great Britain football team then?
tell that to a scot...that they could technically support England in the next world cup if Scotland don't make it because we're all british!
Is it me or has this thread been hijacked?

Christmas is coming, joy to the world peace and love to everyone in the world.
So if Christmas is the time of joy and sharing, why have some councils banned the use of the word Christmas?
According to the beaurocrats it is an offence to people of other religous beliefs..
One more question has anyone ask a person of another reglious belief,
Does the word christmas offend them?
Well if a word is gonna hurts someone's feeling why don't we just ban the use of words ...
Do we really need to make 'Christmas' more inclusive than it already is?

It has Ben for which I appologise for.
So getting back to the original question.......
