Christmas is coming, joy to the world peace and love to everyone in the world.
So if Christmas is the time of joy and sharing, why have some councils banned the use of the word Christmas?
According to the beaurocrats it is an offence to people of other religous beliefs..
One more question has anyone ask a person of another reglious belief,
Does the word christmas offend them?
Well if a word is gonna hurts someone's feeling why don't we just ban the use of words ...
Do we really need to make 'Christmas' more inclusive than it already is?
The thing is the word "Christmas" only seems to offend the people who say it offends...you can ask anyone of any other faith and the most likely answer is its a ridiculas idea to ban the word...or they are possibly offended that someone has decided on their behalf that it is an offensive word for them!
Christmas is a festival celebrated in this contry so if it offends anyone when I mention Christmas then thats just tough titty as far as I'm concerned....
its just another hear say load of rubbish .... there is no council that has banned the word christmas. It is simply people that want to make out the world is all politicaly correct.
Where you hear about this THE DAILY SPORT under the report about elvis riding Shergar on the moon ?
I am not religous in any way, but I do love the whole Christmas thing. It seems to be the only time when most are happy, families get together, and good will.
I do not know about councils wanting to ban it, what I do know is I have never met anyone who hates that time of year.
Christmas Eve is the best day of the year for me, as everyone is in such a great happy mood. Pity there are not more days that filled people with such joy.
This doesn't surprise me in the slightest, in fact nothing like this surprises me anymore.
Last year I put a picture of the Pope on my office wall, next to my desk, and was threatened with disciplinary action if I didn't take it down. The reason? It might offend people of a different faith if they came into my office!!!
When my daughters was at school her nativity play was changed and baby Jesus became baby Babushka.
Where the hell are these people coming from.
I do not know if this is true, but would not suprise me. With keeping witht the thread op's question this may hold an answer.
What I do know is that the very people this is supposed to offend, they are the ones saying they are NOT offended. As a previous poster said " no council had ever banned the word Christmas ", thay may well have done now.
I bet we know the kind of people from this council who want to ban it, and they are NOT from another faith other than being Christian and most def white. Why do they continue to stir up trouble? Or do they have some kind of hidden agenda here?
Who are they trying to protect? Because all faiths that I know love the whole Christmas thing, so I would like to see the people it is " supposed " to offend.
What is really christmas? a celebration of the birth of christ? celebration time? family time? what is the true meaning of christmas?
At the moment just thinking christmas is commercialised like anything else.
A few years ago an ex-friend of wife said she wanted a traditional christian christmas, complete with a christmas tree. Her reason was to have a dig at me being a muslim and my partner was a C of E. As a muslim we celebrate christmas as the birth of one of the important prophets. We decorate the home, lights, decoration and a tree, but however we do not place presents under the tree. The reason is that the tree was a non-christian tradition and the fir tree was given gifts/offering as see as having mystical powers i.e. living in winter. What has turkey to do with christmas? I think the rest you can find out on the internet.
So I question what is a traditional british christmas?
i would ban christmas by all means,it spoils it for my birthday
Because I work in a multi-cultural situation (training centre for a British/international company) we are not allowed to put up Christmas decorations.
Now, tell me if I'm wrong, but doesn't that make it a NON-cultural situation? Wouldn't MULTI-cultural mean we celebrate a nice selection of happy events from many cultures.
Personally - I say stuff 'em. I put a nice string of tinsel around my desk and I'll defend it to the last breath (or until I get threatened with a disciplinary).
