Well beings I'm self employed, and working 90% of the time outside, I'm with ES on this one, I can do without snow cos I can't work. If I can't work bills don't get paid, and we don't eat  (say ahh). H has to sell her body, and we still don't pay the bills and we still don't eat (oops only joking H !)
Still every (snow) cloud has a silver lining, it means you lot (my fee paying customers) tend to bash your cars in snow, so I get more work smile hehehe

On a slightly more serious note, without trying to sound alarmist, it is possible that we could be in for a freeze up. Lets face it, it is somewhat overdue.
It might be an idea to make some simple plans that, should the worst happen, could make things much more comfortable for ourselves, and in extreme cases, might just save a life.
Lots of common sense things that we usually take for granted, such as spare batteries for the torch, extra candles, spare blankets etc.
For the likes of EagerSlut, I read an interesting tale once of a white out across the Pennines, it snowed so hard that cars were completely covered, occupants still inside, in a very short space of time.
By the time rescue services managed to get through, many were already suffering the effects of hypothermia, anyway, long story short, when they found this transit van, dug the snow from around the back doors, they found the driver wrapped in a sleeping bag, small gas primus going with hot soup on the go, flask of hot tea by his side and generally in a warm, cosy and healthy state, in fact the guy ended up spending the rest of the day keeping the rescuers supplied with hot refreshments whilst they went about the business of digging motorists out of the drifts. I guess the moral is, any fool can be uncomfortable, and it doesn’t take much to make the difference between a victim and a survivor.
Lastly, as I think has already been touched upon, if things do get bad, please think about the elderly living around you.

I do and i laugh at her!
She spends all waking hours in her garden, pulling weeds, pampering plants, trimming bushes etc.
Snow comes, and my garden looks just as good as hers!

I have been hearing some pretty nasty rumours about the coming winter.
As always there is no consensus of opinion among those who are supposedly in the know rolleyes , but there seems to be a widening body of thought that 2005/6 is going to be quite severe, some are even talking of massive snow falls and predicting a major freeze this winter. :scared:
Now apart from those that are directly inconvenienced by this, for whom I do feel genuinely sorry, personally I love the snow, the more the better as far as I’m concerned.:bounce:
Is it just me, or does anyone else on here turn into a little kid as soon as we get a covering and insists on going out at silly o’clock in the morning to build a Snowman for the nippers  , then wait to ambush the postman (sorry Postie) with a ready to hand pile of snowballs? :thrilled: flipa

a certain esq had the very same conversation way back when..... he should have taken your advice and got a few blankets together
