Ok fair enough point I also post inane drivel at times!
Good that the post counts gone though if it saves that many problems!
I didnt see the start of this thread, but feel I need to add my own point of view. Although I have been guilty of posting a 'yeah so many post threads', my post count is not the reason I post on here. Its not a race to see who can get the most posts. In the past couple of days I have posted on the word association thread. Before I totally ignored it and the ssh clock threads. I thought it was abit of a time killer when it was qiuet on the forum, and by no means did I do it to increase my post count.
I would agree that there are some inane drivel threads on here, that have totally no relevance to the cafe or the people that post on here, but they aren't harming anyone and within a few hours they just drop off the bottom of the first page, usually never to be seen again.
The cafe to me has always been diverse with its topics and that is what makes it an addictive place to be. I must admit the have you missed me threads drive me mad and the I'm back threads. If there has been a serious reason to someone disappering for a while then fair enough, but people who have been on holiday or going to the shops is just mad.
Two threads recently that I felt compeled to respond to where:
1. Warwick and his superstar son.
2. Reese and Vix and their xmas party.
To me this is what I like to see and comment about, but on the other hand the cafe shouldnt lose its fun off handed wit. Life is to short to be serious all the time so why shouldnt we have some inane drival on here. If you dont like it dont post on it simple as that. We all have different reasons for coming to the cafe, for some its escapisum for others a way of life.
Lets not get to serious ay.
Mr and mrs davej have dipped in and out of swinging as the moods take them. This site was the ideal place to come, to extend a circle of freinds that are like minded. We use other sections of the site to further enhance our needs. Do we want to see the cafe focus more on swinging, hell no. We very much enjoy what we do in our lives when we do it, but the thought of coming in here and finding every thread was " on topic" would fill us with dread, how does narrowing what can and can't, what should or shouldn't be posted enhance the place. There needs to be guidelines, hence the AUP but beyond that, moves that funnel the topics down one particular path (and that could be any path) would surely make for a more boring place.
Some of the threads that have been enjoyable to a large number of posters have had nothing to do with swinging and have either been based around the more humorous banter and gentle piss taking, or more serious issues outside of swinging.
Like a number of posters on this thread I stayed out of the two threads that have been mentioned, because they were in my opinion as dull as dishwater, however I didn't let it bother me, I simply moved on and searched out threads that I liked more and yes at times I have found it difficult to move on and find something that suits my taste, because a lot of the threads don't, but I sure as hell ain't blaming others for the fact that my own interests don't happen to coincide with the current flavour of threads at a given time.
Like most I get pissed off from time to time, but I still enjoy the cafe, I enjoy some threads and posts, I dislike some threads and posts, I also realise that the cafe isn't there to cater for my preferences as an individual and that if I want to get something out of it, I need to contribute, if that contribution happens to be banter and bollox and not swinging related, how is that a bad thing.
I just wondered what their point of view was!
Just because someone maybe a couple of people mentioned that they didnt want to start a thread because of all this!
Feck knows!
All this fuss is just stoopid!! i agree with Blue as well, whats the point of it all??
Playing devil's advocate though, i do prefer it with the post count there!!! it kind of reminds me that i need to go out and get a life, lol! What with the Post Bar (you know, the Godlike thing) and the post count going, whats next?? the avatars?? (thats not a dig by the way!)
Wow, havent got time to read the thread right now but what a fantastic idea to remove post counts. I remember once reading the forum completely different once when I deliberately moved the page to the left to remove the names of who was posting. It was amazing to read messages without any prejudgement but not half as much fun! Hope this isnt just a trial.
foxys xxx
Ive skipped thrrough this thrad as i really can be bothered right now to read it through properly.
So post count has gone,no big deal it stopped mattering a long time ago.
The clock and other thread has gone,oh well knew they would one day.
The cafe is full of a lot of crap with a few good threads,so?I havent got the time to read through every thread on here and just look out for the good ones,be they about swinging or not.
Me and Steve havent been about as much lately because theres not much thats worth being on here for at the doesnt mean were leaving,it just means we cant be bothered with all the crap,be it crap posts,or petty arguments i just dont see the point.
Ive said it before and ill say it again,im on here for the friends ive made,if a one liner thread gets deleted,no big deal.
In my opinion the Cafe has gone right up its own arse,it has been going downhill for a while and seems to have sunk to new depths lately.
It does amaze me that certain threads that have been going for ages can be deleted but other threads which cause problems are allowed to 't get me wrong i couldnt really give a shite about the clock thread or the other one and havent contributed to either of these, its the fact that these can be deleted so easily when others are allowed to continue.
This is my personal opinion and im sure that most people wont agree but at the moment i couldnt really care about it coz theres a lot more important things out there than the cafe.
Hmm, going to disagree with you Steve, I think we need a new attitude on here of working 'With' our moderators, not against them. We may not like every decision, but hell they just trying to steer a mad hat of threads away from the extremes.
Whatever they do people go for them, so lets work on positives, if it crap as not enough swinging threads, start some. If not enough debate, start it, etc... In the end 'we' make up the cafe, if it is 'crap' we only have ourselves to blame.
So come on peeps, lets give the mods a break and start working with them cause we would be lost without them.
Far too much detail in this thread for me to address everything .
Truth is we've said it before and will repeat it . This site is successful , it changes in a fluid way , but always manages to retain its integrity and that -we believe- is the secret of its success . Pure luck brought together the people with the resources , self restraint and intelligence to host a truly open forum . We much admire all involved , and have noticed that no matter how the mood changes from time to time , the hard core of moderators -the web-meister , and a select few of dedicated members , always bring the site back to a place that is interesting , pleasant and popular .
Making it too over specific would be a sad end to what makes it wonderful . We may not take this site as seriously as some do , but we can say that having been members of many many attempts at such sites - this is the ONLY one that brings us back .
If you want very specific swinging requests and details then thats why the ad's section exists .
Swinging Heaven constantly surprises everyone . It has more than its fair share of press attention , and were convinced theres a reason for that . The Cafe demonstrates to non-swingers , swingers and would be swingers alike that our perverse little corner of morality is in fact peopled by real thinking , laughing human beings with thoughts ideas children jobs and problems just like them . We have been friends with many swingers for many years , and have to admit that we were beginning to become jaded by the 'meatrack' mentality which seemed permanently attached to swinging and the internet . It was SH that restored our faith that there were thousands of balanced and interesting proper people involved it it , and we believe that is what the Cafe gives Swingers as a " resource" ( whatever that means) .
Long live the Cafe in its present form , and long live the people that make it that way !
Thanks Guys xxx
