lol
biggrin (in a vague attempt to de-hijack the thread-)
I got my first motorcycle for my 13th- a £25 1968 yamaha 'stepthru' mopedy type thing- (be worth -ooo- hundreds now, or not)---
and by comparison- the youngest stepson is waiting patiently for his first- a full on £1500 motocrosser- spoilt?- Nah!!
When I was 18 I got £80 to buy my first m/c. Was a terribly fecked Honda CB100 which I took apart and rebuilt, slightly tarted up. Lasted me about 10 years. I sold it on, still ran like a dream.
At 13.. I got this radio cassette player. I nearly cried when I saw it.. I had asked for a tape recorder and thought I'd get one of those black boxes... remember them? There was this silver thing. Had two speakers and everything. Me folks did not even bother to wrap it up. Thinking back, it was prolly 'purchased' the night before from 'some bloke down the pub, officer'.
Hee-hee-
lol  I got one of those 'horrid' cassette players for xmas when I was 12- just yer basic recorder thingy- quite hi-tech for '73 tho I spose!
Ten years!!! - think Ive only ever had a bike for 5 years at the most! Tho the old shovels been around for about 8 now-- (ps Mornin Vix)

Mornin dear.
Just read back what I wrote. The radio/cassette was BRILL btw. It reads like I cried coz it was crap.. no... it was this ultra modern looking 'ghetto blaster' which far exceeded my expectations.
Aaaah.. spoil em? I just ordered some books for my kids for Christmas. One each, too! I'll rue the day, I know. But they're worth it.
When I was 13 it was the day of the Ghetto Blaster, all my mates had one, and I really wanted one too. Instead I ended up with a bright red radio cassete player. Looked a bit daft perched on my shoulder, but such is life. lol
My kids have the same kind of life, although this year we are getting them some `in room` entertainment, years after thier mates but...
Such is life!

I had a colour portable tv for my 13th ....
I will say my parents were really good with xmases .. I'm an only child and so got some really nice presents but I had to work hard for them too ...
One year i got an actionman and a jeep i thought it was the best xmas ever....things change though as you get older another year my brother got the six million dollar man and i only got the actionman version and i was gutted! i think as you get older you just expect too much it can be difficult to please teenagers thats why they always prefer the money like at birthdays so they can buy their own things!
