Do you feel criticised sometimes?

Someone has just thought possibly I have just criticised their posting, which wasn’t the case but can understand possible why they might have thought so.
I can pull people’s leg have a laugh with people but only once I feel they are able to understand my humour, I wouldn’t do it unless I felt it was taken in jest.
But one thing I don’t like to do is criticise others.
I take very little of what people say as a form of being criticised. I normally think people are pulling my leg, on a wind up as part of a joke, I don’t mind this form of joking about, as I feel I can give as good as I get.
I could just be naïve I suppose.
Do you take what others say as criticism?
Or do you just give as good, as you get?
Do you find yourself criticising others?
Oi Oi Minxy
You put a post on this forum so that people can react to it. Whether they agree or disagree with you does not really matter. In any case, you are open to criticism just as you are able to critisise. That is what the forum is all about.
Humour is an integral part of this site and long may it be so.
Keep up the good work and stop worrying.
Steve

I dont post too much on here as sometimes I do feel people do take responses as criticisms and take it personally, similarly some posts do appear to be quite personal, whether intended that way or not, I would not like to think my views upset someone, nor would I particularly like to be upset lol.
But I think the forums are for exchanging views and opinions and healthy debate, and some subjects bring out our passions more than others, we can't help it, we are all passionate folk...or we wouldn't be here. I like to think we are all able to disagree with each other without it being taken as a personal criticism...or am I just naive?

Some people here makes it their life's work
i'm with you minxie hunny i like to think of it as having a joke about, touch of a wind up in the nicest possable sense it is incredibly rare anything i say could or should be taken as criticism but even that is done with tongue in cheek to b honest but some may b a bit sensitive from time to time myself included i have been known to think that a reply to my post might b rather criticle but i just tend to ignore n move on rather than take to heart easiest way me thinks

I think that is easy to do, when you first come here as I have done. I would stick up for myself when it is blantant, but I still treat it as water off a ducks back at the end of the day.

Bouncy,
If you want to know how to do it, pm me and I will tell you.
If Minxy can do it.......anyone can. biggrin
I have never taken a forum post personally except when it is a direct or indirect attack on me rather than any opinions I have expressed. When the latter happens I usually post some sort of response simply because I believe personal attacks are unacceptable on a forum, not because I feel insulted.
In the beggining yes i felt critisised and took it personally but learnt to let stuff go over my head and later on i found i may have read it wrong. Thats the power of the written/typed word you can take thing the wrong way at first instance.
I learnt if i saw anything i thought might be personal to just leave it alone.

It makes no difference Dee, purely raised it for a topic of discussion. wink
Constuctive critisism always welcomed!(I like my avator..so leave off!!)
Dont all rush at once please!
It goes back to a previous post I remember on here.
We know what we are typing, and if we are smiling at the time, or frowning, or sometimes even mad, when we are typing a post...it sort of goes back to your use of emoticons post!
Half the time we just misunderstand one another! smile
Lucys post.
many of us are criticised by others who can see the faults in what has been written. this seems fair enough to me. however there are those who don't understand why they are being criticised and subsequently give argument; and can become personal about it.
Never post critical threads :bounce:
Just think 'em :jagsatwork: bolt

Minx...i think you worry too much!

Mr powers I may think but I don't worry,
If thinking is worrying then ok I worry,
As you think I worry to much,
Please don't worry I am fine. wink
The very first time I posted something in this forum, it was shot down in flames and I felt very upset at the reaction I got. I nearly abandoned the forums altogether based on that experience. sad
I don't know what made me give it a second chance, but I did and now am hooked. I usually only reply to posts because I am not witty enough to come up with interesting new threads, but I agree that it is the way that you read them that often dictates how they make you feel. When I'm stressed (not just pre-menstrual lol) I read posts more critically, but when I'm happy, I read them more tongue-in-cheek. I have become more philosophical and emotionally detached and usually treat them as I would articles in a magazine.
I've never met most of the usual contributors, but I think I'm a different person to that which probably comes across here, so tar everyone else with that same brush. The beauty of the written word is that you can go back and tweak it until you like the way it reads. I'm certainly far less eloquent in the flesh. Apart from the judicious use of emoticons, it is very hard to judge the way a person feels at the time of writing, and I try to keep that in mind as I read. It's all water off a moorhen's back to me
