When you create your listing you can choose to give a percentage to charity via missionfish, ebay collect it through Paypal.
what's thier cut?
lp
Aha... thanks for that. Makes much more sense now! :giggle:
No is the answer Sparky... I do it seperately.

My donation equates to approx £60 a month, and ebay/paypal don't get a cut.

And does the Inland Revenue know that you are turning over £600 per month on ebay ?? lol
They could well do now :lol2:

under european law i think ebay have to inform the revenue department if you are making a living or taking a lot of money on the site.
This is correct with paypal as i use it for my customers and when i recieved over £1000 in one month i had to except certain conditions before i could have the recieving limit on my account lifted.
do i give to charity?
only the ones which support the troops which protect our freedoms and put it all on the line for you and me.
Yes they are doing a job,but when they have limbs blown off and cannot return to work because of injuries from fighting i'm prepared to stand up, shake them by the hand and say thank you.
And if that means giving to a charity which helps them then i will give.
I used to sponsor a little girl in San Antonio (I think it was) but at the moment it's a struggle and every penny counts so the money goes in my sons belly instead. (Not literally)
The day I can afford to give my son pocket money again I will give to charity again. It won't be through Ebay mind and more likely to be something local.
Which reminds me of that 'secret millionnairre' programme. I so love that, very humbling.
I do my bit for charity but I don't feel the need to tell anyone what I do.

Mar I was thinking the same thing.
Some people imo "brag" about giving to charity in a quest to make themselves look better to society. Just look at celebs...
When I have more money than the charities I'll think about it, meanwhile I'll struggle with my 4 figure income.

Do you regularly sell on ebay, and if so, do you give a percentage to charity?
I give 10% of all my sales to Cancer Research UK/Clatterbridge Hospital Cancer Trust.

I am a keen e bayer and the answer is NO I do not give to charity on there. The reason? I need to know the money is going to where it is intended to go. Not to some administrator.
I have given money every month to cancer research and have done for 16 years now. I know where that money goes and how much of it gets to where it should do. E Bay I am not sure about if honest.
Maybe thats the sceptisism coming out in me? dunno
I sell a lot on ebay ( ex hubby is still up for grabs if anyone's interested :giggle: ) but the money goes into my own charity box. I work for a charity, volunteer for another once a week plus do fundraising events for others. There's only so much you can do for them and they say charity begins at home, true.

Only some of them surely?
I have bought and sold on ebay... and i don't remember seeing anything about giving a percentage to charity confused
Can anybody point me in the right direction to check? Or could that be why my charges were so much?

So true. I don't donate to the people who stop me in the street either. My view is I donate to who I want because it's a cause I personally feel the need to do that to. smile

One thing I didn't know, until recently, was that they give a percentage to ASH. I wanted my money to go towards research, not a semi-political group.
I have stopped giving to Cancer Research and now give to other cancer charities.

Considering the rip off ebay charges...i do not give to charities through that site!...in fact i no longer contribute to charities!
I wouldn't use eBay to give to charity and probably because I want control over where my money goes confused
I support cancer research and Macmillan every month. My feelings are they we shouldn't have to rely on charity but sometimes there is no choice. I also don't need to tell anyone what I give each month because it is about whatever a person feels they can afford. It all mounts up and helps in some way.
