An SH member has received an email with an attachment, apparently from me. I don't know how these things fake the sender's ID but could I just say to all of you, if you receive anything from me that you're not expecting, especially if it has an attachment, then it ISN'T from me and I urge you to delete it as it could be a virus or something.
Regards,
ICE
Don't worry Ice, it isn't from you. I have noticed that the email viruses have been spoofing email addresses found on this very site. There is nothing you can do to stop it but just use common sense on who have sent the email and what the subject line contains.
I often get emails sent by me to me. Confusing but there is nothing can do about it. You won't be the only email address that is supposedly sending these so don't worry about it. If you don't expect an email from somebody with a dodgey sounding subject line then chances are it won't be welcome.
Hope this helps.

See hunny? its not just you - and i'd just like to say, if anyone gets an email from us that doesnt say something to do with SH (unless we know you well) then its not us - if we respond to an ad or post on the forum the the first mail we send is "......... SH"
not only did he send them to me... he sent them to my 98 yo gran!
she is still drooling!!!!!!!
Is that the gran on the maniacs ball competition?
no.. that pic is her younger sister! lolololololol
u cant have her number... she has not yet regained ability to speak! lol
There are 4 main ways that your e-mail address may be used by a spammer that is not you.
1, you have a virus that is sending out the emails, this does not have to be attatched to your email program... It is also likely to be using any email addresses your pc has to spoof thier addresses as return/sender addresses.
2, Someone you know has a virus and it has scanned all their pc for email addresses and found yours, and is sending it out using that.
3, Any time you use one of those "e-card" or Joke senders sites some of them record the emails of the sent to/sender address and then sell thoes addresses on to spammers.
4, any time on any site that your email address is shown allows someone to harvest that address using web and newsgroup crawlers to search the pages/logs for email addresses, then uses them, this includes the and and aol profile system's... you know the bit where you fill in your personal details. Just because the average user doesnt see the html, doesnt mean you cannot write a program to mimic key strokes and trawl through every profile and pull the addresses off.
I once witnessed WW3 break out on two competitive forums due to one of these little viruses. One was convinced the memeber of the other was trying to commit sabotage!
Not pretty!
