When I say desk top I mean PC/Laptop desktop, are you like me where any stray unused icons get deleted in an instance what wall paper do you have, are you a family picture type person a photo you've taken on a day out or do you just use one of the bog standard windows one's, and do you think your desktop reflects what type of person you are?
I zap any stray icons as soon as I notice them I have files and folders all over the place and in a bloody mess if I’m honest but the desktop its self is always neat and tidy. My wallpaper changes between a picture I took of a tree halfway up Snowdon, a pic of my daughter stood in front of Concorde or the green windows xp one.
So I’ve had a brief think about if this reflects in anyway the type of person I am and have decided it say's..........................................
I like to make a good first impression by being neat and tidy but behind the scenes I'm a shambles but I like to remember the fonder moments in life.
Which as far as I can tell reflects me pretty much spot on lol
My desktop picture is of me and the kids with Jenson Button last year at Goodwood :inlove:
I have very few icons on my desktop (cant abide a messy desktop :lol2: ) but my desk is another matter
No idea what it says about me though :lol2:
I have 34 icons
4 off them being image files that i uploaded to imageshack to use in here which have now been deleted
The icons are in type order ie office, image, website creation and web server utilities.
The image was a Batman poster but is now a very nice photo of Grace Park from Battlestar Galactica. :inlove:
Though my desktop is a bit cluttered with prog icons they are tidy and i need them there. I also hve the same in my task bar. May do a screen shot later.
As for my personality well my real desk is much the same lots on it but organised.
My wallpaper is a fantasy art pic, has been for years and has my basic number of desktop icons.
Everything has to be the correct folder and all relevant info has to entered for my 6000 odd tracks for media player.
Yep, everything on my PC must be ordered.
Now the problem comes when I check files on my server and associated PC’s and discover the kids have incorrectly labelled a file – or maybe filed an Excel document in the Word folder ……. Grrrrrrrrrrr – Finger wagging time (in a light hearted manner).
Now when I repair friends PC’s and discover a desktop literally crawling with icons, I create them a tool bar and file them all away neatly – how sad is that!
And is my desk a mess?
Absolutely right it is.
My desktop is very tidy :smug: I have just 2 icons, the rest are all in the taskbar, which is hidden. I hate a cluttered decktop.
The pic I change quite often. At the mo it's a very calming sunrise photo that I took in the Caribbean when on a cruise. Usually though it's Stan & Ollie, something from LOTR or one of my many fave squeezes like Sean Bean
My desk itself is another matter confused and don't ask me to open the drawer

Sassy - just quoting you because yours seem similar to mine!
Is it just me here, or does it appear that everyone who has a tidy desktop has an unruly desk?
I am intrigued now, does anyone here have a cluttered desktop and if so - what does your desk look like?

biggrinSame here. No icons on my desktop or at work, or anybody elses as I am a network administrator and I disable them
My desk however has a lot to be desired both at home and work redface
My computer desktop has work stuff on the right and bollox on the left over a serene scene of blue ocean a small island of sand and three palm trees and a yacht just off it oh and some white fluffy clouds.
My desk .....looks like a bombs hit it :giggle:
It all does at the moment reflect my state of mind....ie don't know whether I'm on me arse or me elbow blink
Love
Fire xx
Well mine's tidy, icons arranged neatly. Wallpaper is Angelina Jolie but I might change it to Nicky Hayden for a while
I am quite an organised person, so I suppose it does reflect my personality.
My desktop is all tidy, I have 1 folder in the corner which is for any shortcuts that I use & are not on the toolbar at the bottom, its pointless having a wallpaper if you cant see it for icons!
My wall paper is a fantasy pic which I change to other mythical/fantasy pics from time to time. My desk is also very tidy confused (I do border on OCD though!)
Hate to think what this says about me :?

xanaisx
My 'desktop' is lined up and neat ... although I admit to not even knowing what some of the icons are for. lol.
My wallpaper is a really good ( yet devastating ) picture I took after Hurricane Katrina.
My actually desk ... well...er...it doesnt get here until next week so right now my desk is either my coffee table or my bed or now that I am wireless my back yard. wink

Oooh did you download them? If so you will have to let me know where from :D
The only way I can reflect my personality is by standing on a mirror. If I stand on a REALLY big mirror i can see my personality and my ego .
If you stood on a mirror, wouldnt the reflection be of your arse????
my desk top is reasonably neat and tidy,my screen saver is of my best friend thats now walking in the heavens and as for my desk redface i even have a tracker ball as i wouldnt have the space for a mouse lol
Not quite sure what that says about me, other than its about time i sorted out me desk :scared:
Nicky
hehe i am a bit particular with how i have my desktop.
8 icons on my desktop, i don't have no start menu as i have my own menu with all my programs in there own sub menu's like media, internet, games thats it.
I like to keep all my folders named just right with all files inside the folders named properly and i also keep every single file, video audio i have ever downloaded on drive incase i ever need them again.
Also my actual desk i like to keep tidy, my ashtray and everything else has its own space and i feel lost if something is out of place redface
anyway, click the thumbnail to see my desktop, the icons and everything will look tiny as i have a 21 inch monitor set at a resolution of 1600x1200
What does this say about me
Tony wink
He really is that fussy
He never normally moans at anything but when on his pc (like now hehe) i only have to move 1 icon and he frets lol

I have a long sword if that is any good.
..........and my desktop, a bamboo grove.
My desktop is pretty tidy - very few shortcuts on the left hand side - hate having loads of things cluttering it up like some people do .
Windows backgrounds usually something from a movie, occasionally a holiday ski pic ... currently it's the Spiderman 3 teaser image of the black costume.
