How long have str8 ppl been using gay crusing areas.
I know that some crusing areas have been since the First World Was, a very old gay friend used to us the gay crusing are on Hampsted Heath London and even the Town Moor in Newcastle for that long.

I prefer the phrase "sex cruising area"
That way we can avoid any conflicts.
I pay my taxes, I can use any public area I want !
I also pay road tax, so laybys are also on the list.
I pay council tax, so the country parks are a go-go too.
I'll let you use the public loos though...you can retain the use of "cottaging" (I always worry about the teeth on the other end of the glory hole)(or maybe a stanley knife...the times they are a changing)
Hows that for generous ?

Sorry to most gays it will still be gay cruising areas, most of the gay community olny found out about dogging areas from this weeks papers or the television.

I'm not much of a historian, but isn't there records dating back to 18th Century Britain of men using the great outdoors for sex with other men? Oh, and at great risk too - in the real old days they had the death penalty for that sort of thing, and we think we're hard done by today! :shock:
I dare say they didn't use cark parks then, no need for them as there were no cars lol

Hey and what about the naughty Romans and their Roman baths? Don't tell me all those well-to-do Roman guys in their skirts didn't let women in cos they wanted a bit of a quiet chat away from the wife, do you! :twisted: They're about the first recorded sex clubs I reckon.
So, if we're talking about who was first at outdoor and indeed indoor naughty locations, the gay guys have it hands-down. But, don't be greedy, let the straight guys have some fun too - with women's lib and all that, straight guys have it easier these days (did I really say that confused

I'm not much of a poet and I know as much about poetry as I do about history (not much at all then rolleyes

), but what about Walt Whitman's 20 odd young lads all batheing in the summer sun? Very cruisy if you ask me... hey and in that poem wasn't some young girl spying on them or something - so there IS female cruisers after all, it's just that they want the gay guys not the straight ones 8)
Sorry if that makes no sense, I don't know the name of the poem or the proper words :roll:

I went off to find my Walt Whitman poetry book and I quote from Song of Myself...

Unfortunately, shagging (however earth-shaking it might feel) doesn't leave much of a record. You have to wait for some kind of literary tradition to appear.
The Egyptians had some pretty saucy creation myths, didn't they?
My own entirely unprovable theory is that anything that you can think of was done as far back as people were capable of doing it.

You don't have to go far...
Various examples of homo-neanderthalensis were spotted last night...freely roaming around that green area in north london, called scratchwood Open Spaces.
These specimens, easily identified by their low-hairline and extended eyebrows, were hunting their prey (homo-doggerus and ) equipped with primitive hunting weapons....baseball bats.
