I have had both and each sex has been fine.
More the breed than the sex.

Ive had only one bitch and all my other dogs have been males... i prefer males on the whole. Actually, we picked up our new dog just last Saturday from Dogs Trust. Hes absolutely mental!! Hes wrecking the house, i walk him for miles and he gets back home and dumps in my beloved garden.. grrrrr. Hes jumping all over my furniture like a dog possessed, hes mad i tell you mad!! Hes a 4 month old deaf collie cross, so I cant even shout at him to correct him. My lovely, well behaved GSD doesnt know whats hit him, poor love.
Its been a stressful week so far and in a way i wish i could turn the clock back... (i wanted an older dog, but as usual gave in to pressure from family for a pup!!)
Rant over..
Suze xx
It does depend breed to breed somewhat......but as a general rule I'd always get a dog over a bitch....but would have the dog 'done' asap.
Bitches kill yer lawn.
Dogs piss on the side of yer bed (basically because they want to establish ownership of yer Missus)
We have both - but I'm arranging for the dog's balls to be cut off next week
After that gimme a dog every time.
.
We have a Labrador bitch, she is fab with the kids, but at a middle aged 8 she's still an absolute nutcase- they reckon labs never quite grow up. She is really, really feckin blonde though
Had a much better day with my new pup today.. hes calming down and i think he will settle in nicely in a few weeks or so.
A much more relaxed Suze x
Its a bit of a how long is a piece of string question really . Males are more agressive , and usually less obedient if you dont neuter them . Male dogs I have always found tend to attach far more to a female , but often get possesive about them . Bitches are far more loyal once you get their trust , I could imagine any one of the females I have owned happily dying to protect me but the males have been on the whole more cowardly and more look after number one.
Everyones experience will be different as stated above , my advice is look yer prospective pup straight in the eye and youll pretty much always pick right :-)
Have fun with the pups xx
my two penneth .... historically had dogs (last dog being a lovley Beddlington) but got a bitch husky 3 years ago (sadly died last year though from stomach cancer) ... its was a noticeable problem with bleeding each time the husky came into season and keeping her in or trying to restrain her on the lead at such time was difficult to say the least. She wasnt speyed as I wanted a litter from her but didnt get the chance.
The worse thing though was the amount of dog hair!!!! .... would make this a main consideration next time and would probably go for another Beddie ... but def a terrier as they tend not to moult.
Got 3 rescue cats at the moment so I guess a dog isnt really an option  ... and doesnt my waistline know it.
Bitches are my favorite :rose:
