Arti, if that is indeed you bending my brain with that post then welcome back - even if only for this short stay !
Carpathian
Deceitful those that look at this (don't know 'rerum' ?)
Nobody here is near to that name (can't get this bit at all !)
The churlishness by all at this age is annoying
It is doubtful anybody here is guilty of this
But who watches the watchman ?
The saying of the wise man is enough
Farewell to you

Not being a latin scholar this is simply taking from the dictionary and trying to parse them into something grammatically hopeful - anybody out there care to correct me - please !
I've a horrible feeling though that Arti isn't back after all if I'm anywhere close to this !
Carpathian
Arti, my good 'knight'
I understand fully (even if my latin is not up to scratch).
Your good friend,
Alex x x
And I thought in this country it was......... 'innocent until proven guilty' rolleyes

I'm sure many of us also would assume that but those of us who's Latin is virtually non-existent are just left wondering !
Still, nice to say hi again Alex - even if it seems Monday is purposefully cryptic day in some parts dunno

Don't tell me Jags - you understand the meaning too ?
Oh sod it - I give up !! I'm off to cook some tea as having to translate messages and then try and interpret them isn't what I was expecting to have to do on a sunny Monday afternoon !
Carpathian
Hi again Carpy!
See I couldn't keep away entirely! Just a less frequent visitor now.
My garden needs far more attention at this time of year.
Since being here less, I have managed to get all my hanging baskets (18 of them), window boxes (16), tubs (8) and troughs (7) planted and flourishing.
The flower beds now need attention before I can get the bedding plants in.
Then there are the fruit trees to attend to............
So working outside in the fresh air - I will be with our dear Arti in spirit!
Love to you and MissC!
and big hugs, Alex x x x
It's Latin? Oops, I spent half the afternoon trying to put it through Google's Spanish->English translator!
carpathian hey mate! a damn good stab i reckon! lol
rerum tho.......from res, rei i think ......sure arti will correct me but possibly genitive plural......."of things" ??? ( was always crap at decelnsions n stuff! ) :lol2:
<<< goes back and checks if that fits at all??? >>>>
now where else, tell me, can you get SUCH an education eh????? not without spending a lot of bloody money anyways! :lol2: and even then be our kids take advantage and just look down on us for the ignoramuses ( ignorami???? ) we are!

No, I'm afraid I don't understand ANY of it - but then that's par for the course!! confused :?

There are those who are innocent, those who appear innocent, those who appear guilty, those who really are guilty don't deserve another chance.

Confusion abounds here but at least the site is being kept safe and responsible - usernames can be reactivated just as easily as deactivated!!

Well, thank you Neil!
Yes - I bought up the rest of the mews! (lol - I wish)
Hugs, Alex x x
Oh dear!! I tried to keep out of this, but just couldn't. I don't have a Latin dictionary with me and my knowledge was always pretty poor and what little there was has been clouded by the passing of time (not to mention the steady destruction of brain cells by continual soaking with ethanol!). However, I attempted a very sketchy translation and then read on. I think Carpathian is very close indeed. worship
Sadly folks, I do NOT think this is artificer returning. I DO think that I know what he is saying, but that is better taken up in a PM - which is what I shall do.
I must say that it was lovely to see him post again - though sad to see the topic and the general tenor of what he had to say.
Will
Arti,
It was great to see your post even if I had to delve into the old trunk at the back of the attic for the Latin dictionary! Then spend half an hour or so making sure I understood what you meant. I think I got it but having "done" Latin to O level then not used it for 30 or so years it's a bit rusty.
As Will said, Carpathian is very close... and it is better taken up in a PM.
