Hmm. I enjoyed the last one, but this one was a bit of a damp squib if I'm honest.
Thought it was quite good actually. Part one building the scene for parts two and three, did the job it needed to.
Timelords reappearing, wonder if Bernard Cribbins is another hidden one?
i think it was brilliant smile
I thought David Tennant's acting was great; I guess I'm just a sucker for the aliens and would like to have seen more of them! wink
I love the idea of the Gallifrey uprising though. Intriguing!
I thought it was quite disjointed, and they tried to cram too many different elements in. I have a friend who's a successful playwright, and David Tennant's #1 fan (he has a massive crush on him) - and even he was dissapointed. The waters of mars was a cracking episode, and set the bar quite high. Yesterday's couldn't make the mark, but hopefully the next will be better.
dr who was gr8 when it was first out.
the gadget they used was very advance those days.
now dr who has been left be-hind.
n he has no new toys to keep me interested.
my vibrater has more buttons than any of his tools.

Come on seriously? That was nothing like disjointed for a Sci fi program or film. I mean try the 3 newer Star wars films, thats what you call disjointed.
i was bored to be honest hope part two is better - is there a part three as well??
Dr Who is making a good Hamlet on BBC 2... wink

It was in my book. I've not watched the newer three Star wars films- and probably won't ever. I think it was really lacklustre, there was much promise for this episode, but it failed to deliver. It felt like they'd tried to cram too many elements into too short a time lord. I mean, frame. lol

hmmmmmm
did anyone else think too much goodbye and not enough wasnt a patch on the ecclestone/ tennent switch
And that kid is just too young!

Yeah i'm with you on this. Far too soporific for any serious Dr who'ing for me. Mind you I did like the way the time lords looked - very Michael Moorcockian possibly?

Lady Aldwych is in full agreement, but will give the young one a go.. I mean a chance
Call me soppy... but I quite liked it.
I wasn't keen on the first episode but I felt like this one did do a pretty good job of bringing together all the 'threads' of his story.
And I love the Ood and Captain Jack, so that was just a bonus! lol
I wasn't that impressed either, have just watched Dr Who Confidential and that was very good.
Must admit that I'm not overly struck on the new doctor, but the trailer for the first episode looks very very intriguing; but then I'm a sucker for a vampire :[
Callie
Well I didn't understand it all that well redface but still managed a good schmaltzy cry!
So was Catherine Tate just in there to pad things out a bit? Didn't see the point myself. dunno
i thought it was brilliant and really enjoyed it in a bitter sweet way cus i love dt as the doctor
i though ce was a brilliant doctor and hadnt thought id enjoy it so much with dt but i have
im sure the new doctor will be just as good and i look forward to the new series in spring smile
i did shed a tear tho sad
it was a bit of escapism which is good :)
I thought there was enough plot in there. Like others have said it tied the threads up well smile I did like the way he went out, very different to anyone else which is what you want as they cant all be the same. Soppy moments going back to do favors for all of his old pals  Does it for me I dont mind a soppy moment. Very nice to see that past cast were prepared to come back and act a Scene for the passing of DT its not often you see that in TV shows.
I quite liked the first few moments of the new DR (Matt Smith) seemed very quirky. I dont think age is a consideration at all I'll just see how he goes.
Dr Who - my thoughts:
The first time I saw CE (Chris Eccleston) I thought "Wha? And where-the-flip is my regeneration scene??" (We never saw a post-one-off-Paul McGahan-movie-to-new-series-regeneration" scene. Eventually CE proved to be a very effective Doctor. Would have loved him to stay on for more than one year but hey, powers that be.
My second thought, on seeing the debut of David Tenant was "Who the flip is this boffoon?", well, the boffoon proved me VERY wrong as he's shown to have made the role his own, the first person who could steal a role since Tom Baker (yes, MY Doctor!)
My next thought, on seeing the new TARDIS (not "Tardis") interior was to quote Patrick Troughton's 2nd Doctor "I see you've redecorated - I don't like it!" - it looked like someone's pre-puke guts after a night of too many after-shock red mixes. It has however proven to match the unpredictable instability of The Doctor for a more modern viewer.
Matt Smith, 11th Doctor - what will he bring to the table? With much luck he'll have done his research and hopes to avoid (in my opinion) the ineffectiveness of Peter Davidson (sorry PD!) but has a wealth of information behind him ro realise as he grows into the character, The Doctor is his to weird, interprete and transform. As long as he doesn't over do it and remember "The Doctor is a brilliant yet slightly arrogant sod" I think he'll do just fine. His youth means he has options of longetivity whilst avoiding being type-cast (something I fear even DT will struggle to shake off for sometime).
I must admit I know nothing of MS but I do wish him well (just wish he'd put down that damn gun!).

Right! :sparring: No slating the PD  Loved Peter Davidson and I have watched so much of his other work too. As a kid I sat with my parents and watched All creatures great and small and Campion. Ive loved a lot of Peter Davidsons work I puposely tune in to programs he is in. Fantastic in At home with the Braithwaites, Distant Shores, and Dr Who wink to name but a few. He probably has the best regeneration scene too, not when he arrives when he leaves. He's a public figure - he's fair game across ALL galaxies! him and his celery stick!
Why do people start writing in French when David Tennant is mentioned? It starts with allons-y and goes from there - why? dunno

If that's passing reference to my facebook ;) then the person replying lives in France and it's a joke between us.
I saw that and thought you were just being flash :lol2:
Nice to see you back anyway kiss

I now avoid anything he is in if I possibly can. Yes he was good as the DR but he should well know that the DR is more than a one series commitment. His excuses about not wanting to be type cast were just ridiculous, once you have played the DR you will forever be known as that anyway. The series was just back after being axed and it did well in the first series, his quitting could have really put that in jeopardy. Luckily we got David Tennant probably one of the finest actors around today, anyone else may have struggled. Dr Who offered Ecclestone a massive opportunity and he should have at least respected that with a two series minimum showing.
