Hi all. I've had a couple of strange dreams since I came home from hospital, and decided to look into the main bad one that I'd had. (Cue the beginning of having "too much time on my hands")
The dream itself was very long and complicated, but I've looked up a few of the main symbols this morning, and every one of them is relevant to my convalescing after a hysterectomy!
The dream itself seemed to start off with me being in my friend's garage, and a mechanical jumping bean type thing started jumping around. It jumped into a doll and brought it to life. I managed to get rid of that one, but then somehow the jumping bean found it's way into a life-sized man doll type thing, which them started stalking me and then tried to me sad The only way I could get rid of it was to cut my boobs off and give them to him/it
I went swimming in a lagoon type thing that was in the centre of about 4 or 5 sand dunes, but it managed to find me again and I had to again try to escape from it. My memory of the dream is a bit hazy after that, and it ended when I managed to trick it into being on a trainline so that a passing freight traincould run it over dunno
Anyway, I looked up the most significant things that I could think of and here's what the website said....
To dream that you are in a garage, signifies a period of inactivity and idleness in your life. You may feel that you have no direction or guidance toward achieving your goals
To see or eat beans in your dream, signifies your connection to your roots and to humanity. Consider what binds you to your community. Alternatively, beans are symbolic of the soul and of immortality. They also relate to fertility.
To dream that a doll comes to life, signifies your desires to be someone else and escape from your present problems and responsibilities. Dolls may serve as a means to act out your wishes.
To dream that you are swimming, suggests that you are exploring aspects of your unconscious mind and emotions. The dream may be a sign that you are seeking some sort of emotional support. It is a common dream image for people going through therapy.
To see a sand dune in your dream, signifies your desires to be sheltered from the bitterness of reality.
To dream that you have been , suggests a sadistic expression of sexual desire. You may be expressing an unconscious desire to be violated, conquered, or forced into forbidden territory. Some women have a desire to be sexually overpowered, but not hurt. It also indicates vengeful feelings toward the opposite sex. Alternatively, it suggests that you are feeling violated in some way. Something or someone is jeopardizing your self-esteem and emotional well-being. You feel that someone or something is being forced upon you.
To see a train in your dream, represents conformity and go along with what everyone else is doing. You have the need to do things in an orderly and sequential manner. In particular, if you see a freight train, then it refers to the burdens and problems that you are hauling around.
The only bit that I couldn't find a reference to was the chopping off of my own boobs, but it's been suggested by a friend that it could be a reference to loss of sexuality (or at least sexually related body parts :dunnosmile
I thought it was all spookily accurate, just wondering if anyone else had ever looked into dream interpretation and what the outcome was, also whether anyone else had any ideas about the boob thing.
(BTW, I'd be devastated to lose my boobs, they're probably my favourite part of my body )
I reckon you're right. I think it is a 'loss of womanhood' kinda thing. Bless ya.

The way I've read all that Angel, is that you may be developing a "truck driver fantasy" and perhaps it's time to turn the fantasy into reality.

Gotta be worth a try
I hope your'e taking it easy, young lady.

   Bloody Hell, Angel! (oops, no pun intended) ...
So if the train ran over and killed the bean ... does that mean you see conformity as bad for the soul? Though death is supposed to mean the opposite, if not rebirth exactly, then some life change ... well, I guess cutting your own boobs off would do that ...
I read a book years ago on the interpretation of dreams which I thought was very good ... it said that you can't form a truly valid interpretation based on a single dream, you need to interpret in relation to your other dreams. Got an A+ for that one biggrin
Hmmmmmmmm let me sleep on that one

They're one of my favourite parts of your body as well.
Wow Angel that's all so close to the mark it makes you wonder. I always thought dream interpretation was crap but it must've come on in leaps since I last looked. Maybe you're a model dreamer - aaaahh such bliss!!!

Hmmmmmmmm nice extra interpretation there, the answer is probably yes if you look at my lifestyle (the swinging). My mum wrote a poem for me a few years ago and one of the lines that I always remember is "........The lessons you've taught me are "easy's not best", it's good to be different and not like the rest.........."

Lol yes, cutting off my boobs would be a pretty major life change, but I guess having a hysterectomy could be seen as a fairly major life change....... although I had already been sterilised for about 7 years anyway so maybe not dunno

My thoughts exactly Tune. That's kind of why I brought it up in the original post, because I've always been a bit undecided as to whether it's claptrap or not. I think that dream and the relevant meanings alongside my recent operation does point towards there being at least some truth in the theories though.
So does anyone else have experience of dream interpretation then? I'm quite interested to know, because even though dreams are very odd things sometimes ("I was at work but it was in my front room" type wierdness) I wonder if the little things really do mean the things "they" say they do :dunno:
Angel, I once posted on a thread similar to this about a series of very vivid dreams I was having. I wasn`t after interpretation as it was not anything I took much stock in. The dreams were simply weird and worth posting, I was having fun with it, nothing more. The analyses` which were offered were very dramatic, but still I laughed it off. However what followed afterward was uncannily accurate, even to the point of matching the unconcious stages of the illness (or perhaps the `denied`. I`d like to be able to say it was all very `suggestive` and had a great influence upon why I became so poorly, but it wasn`t until sometime afterward I remembered the dream thread, I had bigger fish to fry. The analyse itself didn`t leave that much of an impression on me at the time. I can`t even say that like many horoscopes, the analyse could be treated with ambiguity, because I can`t, it was spot on, or at least I don`t feel I am being subjective.
I can understand the subconcious picking up on things the concious hasn`t, and expressing this in dreams, that makes perfect sense, but what I don`t get is the precise imagary dream analysis uses. One image could mean something very different to any individual, especially across the cultures, that seems realistic to me, but dream analysis doesn`t seem to allow for this, or need to.
Why teeth crumbling if there is illness? Why so precise? A...I dunno, teapot for example could represent something very specific. It doesn`t make sense!
I`ll admit though, despite my experiance, I haven`t looked into it as much as I should have.
It was on my `to do` list redface

Cue geeky gem...
Teeth crumbling comes from the time when mothers lost their teeth in child birth due to giving all their calcium and other nutrients from the teeth to the foetus. It was an indication that the person wasn't getting enough good stuff from their food and often became ill and died.

Very interesting Geeky Gem lol, still don`t know why that of all things should be used by dreams to indicate bad health.
My teeth are always screwing up regularly in my dreams! I`m normally just wobbling them, until I end up wobbling each and every one free, then spend the rest of the dream panicking about wtf I must look like! rotflmao
That said, I also believe in dreams which mean fuck all.

my laughter dreams as i call them have been serious warnings to me ive had lots of them all have been bang on. there not the same dream often very different scenarios but the funnier the bigger the warning, this dream has been going on for a few weeks now but becoming more intense from waking up with a smile on my face to waking gigling away to myself. , but a conversation i had with someone last night brought my dream home with a ten pound hammer and has made me think really hard about my health and what im doing. carl jung was a bloody genuis , some may think its mumbo jumbo and dreams are just a mish mash of the days events plus randon things thrown in , i on the other hand have had far too many warnings that have been spot on, something that is about to happen and always does with perfect acuracy
I`ve not studied Carl Jung as much as I should have, beyond his Psychometric test. Good to know I can combine two things on my `to do` list
