I have had an email, reporting to be from a bank. It directs you to a web page, that looks just like the real thing. As you log in, it collect your password and then guest what.
No I have not been I was not a victim.
Please never use embedded links in this type of e-mail. Always use the web page new know.

Always good to alert members to scams so thanks for this. Is this the first time you've received one? They have been around for a number of years and are getting more sophisticated.
Even if it looks genuine, a tell-tale sign is the link. Usually if you put your mouse pointer over the link it will tell you what the real link is (rather than what appears on screen).
And of course if you have any reason to think it might be genuine (although most are so obvious with spelling mistakes etc I doubt most people are fooled), contact the bank etc directly to ask rather than replying to the message.
they usually have 'dear customer' or similar at the top, all my bank/ card based contacts use my name instead wink
Foiled again!
lp
theres also another one doing the rounds on windows live messenger called You were blocked?. It will come from one of the people on your msn list and basically once you open it, it sends the message to everyone in your msn and takes you to some dodge site.

........

No not the frist, but the best!
I get these " bank " ones a lot.
IF you have decent anti virus on your computer it usually blocks it if you go onto the link.
When you get these just mark it as scam, and the ISP will add it to their list.
I got this one today....didnt know weather i could post it as a separate thread , so put it in here instead....had a quick check on to see if its a fake and cant find it mentioned on here....but useful to keep a note of anyway, just in case.
The new telephone 'scam' has arrived in Medway.
I received a call from a 'representative' of BT, informing me that he was dis-connecting me because of an unpaid bill. He demanded payment immediately of , or it would be £ to re-connect at a later date.
The guy wasn't even fazed when I told him I was with Virgin Media, allegedly VM have to pay BT a percentage for line rental!
I asked the guy's name - the very 'English' John Peacock with a very 'African' accent - & phone number - .
Obviously the fella realized I wasn't believing his story, so offered to demonstrate that he was from BT. I asked how & he told me to hang up & try phoning someone - he would dis-connect my phone to prevent this.
AND HE DID !! My phone was dead - no engaged tone, nothing - until he phoned me again..
Very pleased with himself, he asked if that was enough proof that he was with BT. I asked how the payment was to be made & he said credit card, there & then...
I said that I didn't know how he'd done it, but I had absolutely no intention of paying him , I didn't believe his name or that he worked for BT.
He hung up.
Did 1471 & phoned his fictitious 0800 number - not recognised.
I phoned the police to let them know , I wasn't the first! It's only just started apparently but it is escalating.
Their advice was to let as many people know by word of mouth of this scam. The fact that the phone does go off would probably convince some people it's real, so please let as many friends & family aware of this..
