Just had an easter egg given to me by my wonderful wife only to find when i opened it that it was thinner than the foil that enclosed it. I seem to remember that they were much thicker? It may be me being a grump again but i doubt it. Suspect it's just another example of being ripped off!
Easter eggs are much thinner now cos they generally are made by machine - it spins the mould round and gets them beautifully even but also lets the manufacturers get them incredibly thin. I used to love looking for the thick bit left when they were done by hand.
We had Thornton's eggs this year and they had lovely thick bits, especially round the edge but they weren't stuck together. That is actually good cos then you don't get bits of chocolate everywhere when you finally smash them open.
To be honest hey really aren;t worth the money - apart from the fact that you really want an egg shape at Easter. We generally get an egg or two and then anything else is block choc, other sweets and such like.
