Coming up for a weekend shortly (in a non swinging capacity) any locals or previous visitors know of any hidden gems worth seeing apart from the usual spots?
Some of the most visited places are well worth visiting...
Obviously the Castle...
Scott Monument is great and the views are fantastic from the top...
A walk over the Forth road bridge is something I found worth while but I found its best done at night..

:scared: you don't have to cross it to get to Edinburgh from down here do you? redface Might have to do it at night then at least you can't see how far down it is to the water
Hans, not been to Edinburgh but thinking about it later in the year (October-ish) so let me know if you find anything worth a visit?
Will do! smile
I know of one particular place that makes a visit to Edinburgh blissful

I hate going over it in the car (couldn't imagine ever walking over it :scaredsmile especially when they put up the speed limit warnings when there's a strong wind! I've usually got my eyes closed anyway lol

Yeah I'd say it looks pretty good from here! lol
Looking for bars, shops, restaurants, clubs yeah. I always like to get the inside track from people who actually live there.

It sure is....
It made it a little more exciting as there was a fair breeze and you could feel the bridge gently swaying..
If there are one or two large vessels going along the water you can get some quite nice pics at night as well.

Bloody stupid person! :scared:
I love Edinburgh - only got there last year but I keep going back and still have lots to explore - found two excellent restaurants in the old town, one French Country cooking, the other a local Scottish fish restaurant ... dunno whether I shall be banned if I name them ... confused
I'll send you a PM.

A good touristy place to go is the Optical Museum. It has a Camera Obscura which is brilliant. wink
