Give it a chance - does everyone greet you when you walk into a pub or somewhere that you've never been in before?

Nah !! but they give me bloody funny looks !!
That's the mirror dear lol
don't give just keep talking to yourself and sooner or later someone will works for me.... rolleyes
I was a bit unsure of it at first but eventually I did get into chats with nice folk and am now in touch with some great new it time and it works!
I've found simply saying "Hiya everyone biggrin" gets at least one or two responses, reply back to those people, asking how they are etc and usually you get more joining in..
If that doesn't work typing things like " *me* looks for somewhere to sit, but notices all the regulars have taken the comfy sofas and the seats within the coffin shaped enclaves seem a little creepy"
Even " *me* attempts to open the drinks cabinet and upon seeing it is locked opens her rucksack looking for the dynamite"
etc etc... things which literally PUT yourself in the room, make it something people can respond to, laugh at and you'll soon get a response...

me too! lol Shame we often end up talking to each other ... confused
As the others said - just push in, basically! Hi to the room and the people on cam usually gets a few hi's back and then you can always say thanks for the welcome, nervous newbie be gentle or some daft thing. Someone's bound to take you under their wing.
The lines that usually get ignored are the trolls - "Bradford anyone?" over and over or "vwe m, 28, any cpls or fems for meet?" It's just lazy and boring and it's not often anyone in the "regular" rooms responds.
It can be a lot of fun when you get to know a few "faces" so don't be afraid to pick out names you recognise but don't forget to pay attention to the others too. No one likes feeling second best.
Good luck! cool

If you have a tendancy to flip from one room to another it will be difficult, as a lot of rooms have members that go into that particular room all the time. A bit like the regional rooms but....if you come from a specific area there is a room for you.
The Jacuzzi on server 2 is a nice room where people do chat, but you cannot expect instant success. New members do have to put themselves out, that was the same for us and most others no doubt. But good luck. biggrin

As said above, you must give it a chance. If you have time, go in there regularly and you'll soon make friend's, contact's to chat to.
Make sure your polite, don't whisper without asking first and try to join in the general chat that's happening.
If im in there when your there, say hello and i;ll chat to you  to get the ball rolling, as it were lol
IN EDIT: don,t take a hello as a come on confused
Louise xx
I know what you mean, and i felt the same when i first started using them, but it does take time. Get involved with the conversations, and if your regular enough, you'll soon strike up relationships with people...my 2 pence worth smile
Probably cos they have long memories wink
