If you're happy, why so paranoid about what people have said? Nobody's saying that you should be punished, just that you should pay a price which is proportionate to your weight.

Your post came across as defensive, I thought (yes, my opinion). We have seen lots of things lately, so I don't know what 'that' is, which you have seen too much of.
The comments other people have made are also their opinions and just as valid.
I disagree with being charged extra too but if the airlines decide to go that way, we either accept it or don't fly. We don't have a lot of choice do we?
Calista, we also went to the US a couple of years ago and had no problems (we are also 'fatties' and had children). On the way back, however, we had to shuffle our belongings so that our hold luggage was heavier and our hand luggage lighter. Bit daft really, but we did it because we didn't have a choice if we wanted to get home
I'm inclined to agree with TnH with regard to the 'thinnies' balancing out the 'fatties'.
