Now there are people in my life who know I'm a member here and have an inkling of the various sexual pursuits I enjoy. However there are more who are not so clued up - and I am happy with that.
The only thing is, I find myself running out of excuses as to how I know or where I met people or sometimes where I am going to.
"Oh yeah, erm... well is a friend of . We met at that party I went to years back, remember? No? Oh well."
"Tomorrow night? No, sorry. I'm off out to for a night out with the girls from work. Is Sue going? Oh no, sorry did I say the girls from work? I meant colleagues from my last
work."
rolleyes
As you can see, I'm never the most imaginative!
So, can anyone give me some new excuses to explain away swinging meets or swinging friends?
lol
We tell the babysitters aka parents when they ask that all our friends are people we met from a tattoo website we are both members of.
For socials and clubs we normally say we are going to a friends club he has just opened but always seem to forget the name of it.
smackbottom for lying to them but even if I told them the truth they wouldn't believe us

We're lucky, to my friends it's people *Him* grew up with and vice versa.
We were someone from here's excuse once upon a time. Apparently "we" were going through a tough time, and I'd call regularly with a crisis and said person would have to leave the house to come comfort me :-o Was news to me till I spoke to said persons mom one night

I met them on an internet swinging site.
Providing you keep a straight face, they will think you are talking shite and its guaranteed that they won't ask you again
Good thread Nola! smile
I had to speak to someone on the phone this week who is friends with a member on here and needed some work related advice, all was going well until he asked me how I knew XXXX!
I didn't have a clue whether this person knew that XXXX was on here or not so paniced and mumbled something about mutual friends, luckily he didn't question me any further so don't think I dropped anyone in it. wink
Also when out for dinner with same member (plus others ) and members of his family, his Mum asked how he knew me and easy......to which he told her he met us on a swingers site :lol2: She didn't believe him :lol2: :giggle:

The double bluff. A brave strategy.
Hmmm.... could I?!
It's a great thread! rotflmao
Am desperate for credible 'excuses' myself... I'm such a bad liar!
You mean some people actually meet new people other than via the internet these days? Just say you met via the internet - it covers everything. A lot of people seems to get to know others local to them via , so you could say you exchanged something via that, or bought or sold each other something via another site. A couple I went round to for a swinging meet once were worried about who they would say I was if any of the neighbours saw me, so I just suggested they say I was selling them some records or something similar.
Talking of how common meeting people via the internet is, in an obituary in the Guardian the other day a man whose partner had died wrote that they had met each other via internet dating. I think that must be some kind of first!
I have been on a friendship site for the last 6 years... and just tell people that i am meeting up with friends from there..lol
my parents and children have met a few peeps from here.. and just assume they from the other site...
If i feel i have to explain who peeps are - i just say i met through friends biggrin
facebook friends are always a good one to use...oh yep a random add on facebook and we became good friends!
I used to tell my Mum I was on a dating site, altho i nearly dropped myself in it when my aunt asked which one coz she`d like to join, and I say the friends we have are from a chatroom we go in, the parties are held by said friends and so are the socials and camps we go on, its a good thing she doesn`t really have much knowledge of t`internet.
Cool thread
The only people that don't know about us and this is our respective parents. Although I think my folks know I use the site 'socially'... well, they probably know I use it for other things too but don't ask wink My dad did ask me if I'd been Dogging once when I was staying with them and came in late..I nearly died!
It's just as well people know I guess as I was out with Swinging friends in Newcastle over Christmas and Mr Bioke's sister happened to join us later on in a very drunken evening. She was drunk too - it was Christmas party season! The male half of a couple I know said 'Hello, who are you? My name is X and I'm straight but I do suck cock occassionally' To which Mr Bioke's sister replied 'Hello X, mine name's X and I'm straight and I love sucking cock too!' Still makes me giggle now smile
Excuses... hmmm:
- Out with friends from university
- Out with friends of X (change name to suit who's asking and make sure it's someone who wont be calling them that evening etc)
- Make up a virtual friend that you can never be caught out not being with and who covers all bases. I used to have one called 'Jane' who lived in Colwyn bay before I told my folks I was gay and whenever I was somewhere I shouldn't have been, I was 'out with Jane'. She was a real 'goer' actually and I had to dump her as a 'friend' when I did tell my parents in case they asked to meet her. I said she'd danced on a table at a party and ruined it with her heels (it was the 80's). They knew she was made up apparently.
- Say you're out with me Nola
- Say you're at PoshKate's as nobody can ever find their house anyway lol
I'll think of others and come back to this...
x
Going back over 4 years ago when we went to more socials and munchs we used to tell my parents that we were organizing gaming console events. Had to leave early cus we had to set up all the machines and make sure they were working. Of course theres always drinks after the games so we will be back tomorrow. It was something we were both quite into at the time so was an easy sell.
More recently we have just been out with friends.
I only have to tell fibs to my folks, all my other mates know what I get up to. So my mum thinks I met everyone at camp. All of you that I've met that is. And it's all Earthy's fault.
:giggle:
If I'm going somewhere swingy for a weekend and have to tell them she always asks and who's that again? Oh that's so and so... from the camping lot.
I'm at work.
I don't do the 9-5 thing very often (just got back home in the last hour, working some of the BH) and i'm away over night on occasion so nobody really asks if i need a cat sitter cos i'm 'at work'
Great thread, got some brilliant ideas to use myself now thanks
as a single lady living at home with an 18 year old son ive often wondered what he thinks of me going out to meet 'friends', ive often had to say im going over to my best mates house rather than 'just meeting a friend' and hope she never rings me on the landline
if im going to a social its usually someones engagement, birthday, wedding bash etc thats fancy dress lol how else do you explain the attire often worn at these events dunno
some family and friends know what im up to but those that dont if im asked what im doing at the weekend im usually just meeting a group of friends i met thru work or uni
no exciting or different excuses here im afraid but i think after reading this thread i am going to be more creative and imaginative
Hard for me to add to this as everyone I know already knows I'm on here, have to say the majority dont bat an eyelid, even my 17yr old daughter doesnt say much and che has met quite a few of my social friends.
We always say we are meeting old school friends, or friends from whwere the wife used to live
We were both in the Army and Mr F went to boarding school. It's amazing how many old friends we keep arranging to meet via Facebook. Only thing is that we have to remember which one we're meeting and when.
I have the nosiest mother and she has met a lot of my old Army friends. She will hint: "It would be great to see him/her again ... how long is he/she on leave?" to which I reply "Oh they're going back in the morning, maybe next time?"
I could do with some new excuses!!

A subject close to my heart. Only one person of significance is unaware of our lifestyle and the words "chat room social" are wearing a little thin. Only last week he said "bugger me don't you lot do enough chatting on line without having to travel all over the country". I am thinking of biting the bullet. Perhaps if I allude to our more esoteric tastes he will accept that we are part of that community and be too embarrassed to enquire further. If he does I will emphasise the kinky rather than sexual aspects of those tastes and we might just get beyond the moral outrage at the concept of people fucking strangers for fun. Its a slim hope but the only one I have.
Im the same as Trixie_D-Lish... single but with 2 kids now over 18.. also very nosey and always want to know what Im doing, where Im going.
I AM on 2 dating sites as well as here. One of them has regular socials around the country so I usually say Im attending one of them when off to an SH do lol but in reality have only attended ONE about 4 yrs ago
I dont go on private meets without having met at a social or club first so I just say I met them at the singles do
