its always made me laugh that pissed means different things over here yet if you use it when your speaking to an american they will just think you mean angry
The other day, by chance, I looked up the meaning of the word 'git'. I had always thought of it as in 'miserable git' ie a person you had contempt for, but in my dictionary at least, a 'git' is a worthless person.
It does not follow that a person would have contempt for a worthless individual does it?
A rather abrasive woman I used to work with a few years ago used to describe anyone who annoyed her as a "complete dildo". It should have made me laugh but she scared me to death!
My (swear)word of the week is Fuckwit.
No idea from whence it came, but I like to think of it as a fucking halfwit-abbreviated.
I got a text from a friend of mine the other night and she said "I love you you bastard"
What a lovelly pet name x
one - as in a mood, strop or temper tantrum.
"He went into one"
I always think 'twonk' has a certain ring to it.
.
I rather like the term "numpty". It gets used a lot in this house
I still like and use "pillock", and it's fun to find something else beginning with "p" to put with it -"pinbrained pillock", for instance, is good.
And yes, Celestria, I love "numpty" - it's a brilliant word.
