What have other people thought of Fanny Hill on BBC4?
I've loved it, it blended the saucy, the melodramtic, the highly erotic all in only two hours.
In her changing fortunes Fanny has moments of being enpowered and in control but also has times where she is manipulated, used and abused by hypocritical men(and other women too!)though thanks to a few delciously contrived coincidences here and there she always gets to win the day in the end somehow.
By TV standards it was pretty explicit both in its words and orgy scene in part two certainly pushed the envelope a bit and looked fantastic.
I often felt it wasn't so unlike us now if you took away the 18th century manners (or lack of!), and the costumes and trappings of the era!
If you missed it part two is repeated on Wednesday at but even better BOTH parts are shown a 2 hour whole next Saturday at
i missed it but it sounds good so i will be watching this saturday evil
I love it! really really enjoyed it and in fact I wish it could've been on longer than 2 episodes.
Last nights was well worth watching N&G, but I won't go any further. wink
lol
We both enjoyed it very much. Always enjoy the "speaking to camera" type of show, sort of lets you in on the characters thoughts without you having to work it all out.

Yes I agree GC2001, Fannys asides were brilliantly portrayed by Rebecca Night.

Loved it redface
Don't know what it is about period dress, could be the knowledge that it was all so in those days but yeah, it did it for me lol
Watching it second time around I must say I took great interest in Samantha Bond as Mrs Coles, she looked gorgeous in the clothes of the time - and kept them on throughout I may add!

I missed this as I am not a telly lover as such, so I never look out for things sad I love raunchy period dramas too. Does anyone know if it is to be repeated at all anytime soon?

Apparently on Saturday petal xx
I loved it too. Just the right amount of flesh and eroticism for me. Bigger turn on than a porn film any day.

Thanks Mar kiss I now know what I am doing on Saturday evening biggrin
Yes Varca, it's on again on Saturday with both episodes run in one go, on BBC4. cool
I read the book about forty years ago, my grandfather had a copy but the first half dozen pages were missing but I remember as a boy I pulled my plonker many times. If anybody gets a chance to see a copy get it they wont be sorry as there is a lot more in it than what was put on TV.
