This is a thread to run along side the BOOK TO FILM thread.
With so many duff versions of books being adapted for the screen, could you do better? If you had a limitless budget what book/game/etc would you like to make into a film?
My favourite a moment is the thought of Jonathon Strange and Mr Norrell being given the full BBC costume drama works.
I'd also like to see a live action version of Captain Scarlet. As long as it kept faith with the very dark origins of the original puppet series.
Ive always been very impressed by Peter Ackroyd's Hawksmoor...
an absolutely fantastic book for its dark atmosphere, and two-timeline story..
Im sure that would translate well to screen if handled carefully, without losing its soul to hollywood glamour, and the ubiquitous *love interest*
blimey!... did I say "ubiquitous*?... strooth, bet it aint spelt right though

I started reading a group of books called the Edge Chronicles (Paul Stewart) when i as about 11 i think (i still read them because they rule....biggrin) I always enjoyd them and i think that movies (true to the books) of those books would be magical, kids (and me) would love them x
David Eddings's Belgariad and Mallorean.
I love those books....................but I don't think there would be enough money in the world to do them justice
Any one of the Eternal Champion series by Michael Moorcock would be good but I'd really love to see Hawkmoon on film or another favourite of mine by him, Warhound and the World's Pain
Dan Simmons - 'Hyperion' & it's sequel 'The Fall Of Hyperion'
They would each have to be about 4 or 5 hours long mind biggrin
raymond E Feists - the magician
one of my favourite books and i read it over and over again
a childresn book would be carbonel by barbara sleigh no idea how many times i read it as a kid, talking witches cat, still have the book now

Hawkmoon biggrin I forgotten that. It would look brilliant. What about the 2nd Corum trilogy?

Corum's ok but a little boring as a main hero I thought. Hawkmoon is just such a great character or even the enigma Elric
not really fantasy books but i do like an offbeat crime novel and in my humble opinion the janet evanovich / stephanie plum books would make gr8 movies or TV
humour and thrills and romance - just perfect
Stephen King/Peter Straub - The Talisman
Rumoured to be in the making for many a year now !

Is that the one about a murder and an Elizabethan architect? If it is, I struggled to finish the bloody thing. Maybe I just wasn’t in the mood when I read it, or maybe I have the wrong book? dunno

According to IMDb it'll be a mini-series due for 2008 with Steven Spielberg Executive Producing...no cast details yet though.
It'll probably be a bag of bob after all these years I've waited for someone to have a go at it !!
raymond E Feists - the magician
