Dear friends. I would just like to say farewell to all the wonderful people I have met and chatted to on here since I joined in January (as many of you know I was previously here as Alexandra). I have had some great times and met some cracking characters and also made some, what I think will be, long-term friendships. But I do think it is time for me to leave here. There have, I understand, been some complaints made about me over a few matters. I do not know who made them nor should I be told - the confidentiality aspect is crucial here, but where the complaint is warranted I would like to make a public apology before I leave. What I did do was to 'act like a moderator' in a thread in the dogging section. Apparently I came over as condescending. For that I most humbly (and I am not being sarcastic) apologise. I certainly did not mean to be condescending in any shape of form. In my own way I was trying to help as I could not see if there was a mod online - there were none visible anyway. If there had been a mod visible I would have brought it to their attention Two other points have been mentioned to me. One was that I had posted 30 posts a day and also that I had been hijacking threads. Yes I know when I am off work I have been a prolific poster but I was not aware this was against the rules. However, regarding the hijacking - I have just spent some time going back thru 6 of the 9 pages of my posts, I cannot see where I have actually started a hijack unless it was a temporary one where I made every effort to bring the thread back on track afterwards.. This is why I made the posting in the short joke thread yesterday - I did feel that this was unwarranted. Please understand this is not an attack on anyone who has raised an issue about me nor the person who brought this to my attention. There is no personal attack in this at all. But in the light of this I have decided that it would be far better if I left the site. Please don't think that it is sour grapes on my part - it isn't at all. In fact I feel very positive about it and may actually begin to start doing more than sitting in front of my PC all the time. Some people already know I am leaving - but anyone who I haven't spoken to in the last couple of days, drop me a PM. I will check in a couple of times in the next few days just to check the PMs before I leave for good. I will not be posting further in the forum however. So Bye Bye, hugs and big smooches to you all! Alex, it is to your credit that you leave here with dignity, not in some public slanging match. I for one, will not miss you.......................... because I will still stay in touch!!!!
Another quick check of the forum and another post of somebody leaving due to comments made. I notice others have quietly vanished too other the last week or so - I'm guessing some of you may also have noticed this ? In respecting Alex's wishes to keep this free of degenerating into bad blood or finger pointing I'll simply say that if people pick at mortar then it shouldn't be a surprise when bricks fall....... Sorry to see you go-especially in this way. I feel a valuable member of the community has been lost. I'd also take this opportunity to say goodbye to others that have left recently but have not given us the lovely sendoff Mrs Peel has given us
Alex, I too left the other week but did not say goodbye as had not really been on here long enough & just wanted to fade out...my reasons were somewhat like yours & I will stop it there. To the people that gave a toss who have kept in touch via PM's please do not think I am ignoring you, just had to find my life again off of a computer so have done exactly that. Alex we thought you Lancashire lasses were made of sterner stuff. Don't let yourself be pushed out by the feelings of what can only be a minority of people on here. As a member, you have every right to post on the forum, just as those who don't wish to read your posts can choose to ignore them. Simple really We don't read all the threads on here so don't know what has gone on in the past, but we think you should reconsider leaving the site completely. Maybe you could step back and take your breath again whilst your feelings are bruised, but to leave altogether would be silly. If you enjoy it on here, then stay. Jon & Terry-Jayne
I thought the object of this place was not to judge or be judge but to share fun and make friends. I have not been on this site very long and it sadens me to see some of the lifers feel they are being intimidated into leaving. If people like you go the whole character of this site will change along with that so will its appeal, Think on before you let others drive you out. Stay safe Spoony
Hi all, Slim. I too have been away for some weeks and have no idea what's been happening buts its very unfortunate for all concerned and for us that things have turned out this way. Alex We have never met but I have seen your posts. I know whats its like to be hurt and offended and how hard it can seem to change your mind when you have made a decision. This place is for everyone including ME and I dont know what went on or the conversations but as far as I am concerned this site is for everybody who wants to work within the groundrules set by really the main people who use it with the overall moderation being with Mark. Making decisions to leave I nearly did a couple of times because I thought I had offended someone but that was about my own insecurities and we all have ghosts to rid ourselves of. So think about what everyone has said to you in here and pms and make the decision again based upon support and knowing the internet is a bloody lonely place and most other sites are I think pretty crap which is why many people want to stay here!!!!!!!!! I am speechless - and that is a very rare event!. I cannot thank all of you enough for all your good wishes. Your posts, PMs and emails have touched my heart. I was in tears reading thru them yesterday evening. I couldn't believe how many emails and PMs I had received. I promise I will reply to eveyone, please bear with me though as it will take a little time to get through them all. I still feel I am making the right decision for now. I may be back but it will not be in the near future. I hope not to lose touch with many of you. There is always email, msn and of course, the telephone. I'm also intending to share a beer and/or a glass of wine with some of you in the near future! So be happy and safe everyone. Once again many thanks for the kind words!
